tobacco/pepper, it to me has a bitter alkaline chemical taste at 6mg and up(unflavored, - hard to spot at 3mg - I suspect using PG hides it somewhat due to PG's ethanol'ish notes, but dunno for certain as haven't bothered to test, as I don't like the taste of PG). Also nicselect which can be gotten pretty cheap from e.g. nicotine-river etc, is to me as "clean" as chemnovatic in taste and certantly on paper...
Nicobrand nic to me is clean(made in ireland/UK), meaning no off-taste, but does have a very slight tobacco taste though and only available in select few EU vendors because of higher price, and also from totally-wicked's US site...
