Hi,
I am ready to start building and have decided I want to start with the Russian 91% to go with my ProVari. Should I get the version 2 because it's new or version 1 with it's fixable issues (spring load pin.....I believe)? I like the 510 drip tip without the adapter on the version 2 but is it worth it all in all if I have to do the product recall if it don't work?

Pros/Cons advice appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to ECF, bx...

If we're talking about the genuine Kebo/UTC R91%... the V1 has a solid, threaded screw that allows adjustment, and offers good continuity - the V2 originally came with a spring loaded pin, which (although owner correctable if one is mechanically inclined) didn't work out so well, so Kebo made a retrofit kit which they gave away free, converting the V2 back to V1 510 contact configuration.

Although I've not seen one yet... supposedly, the V2.5 retail version is the V2 with V1 contact... or basically, what you'd get if you bought a V2 and installed the free retrofit kit. Someone else might offer more accuracy on this than I.

The V1 510 DT adapter works fine... there's no need to avoid it - in fact, I prefer having the option.

If your talking about clones... I can't help you because there are too many variables with clones.

If the choice is between the V1 with a fixed pin and the V2 with spring-loaded pin, personally I'd go for the V1. If you can get a V2 with the fixed pin, then that's a good option, too. That's just my :2c:

Not everyone had trouble with the spring-loaded pin, but it was a real headache for those that did . . . speaking from experience, here  On the plus side, the that was the only problem I had with the V2
