I've been trying to DIY and having some issues. Over a series of three months I've probably made 40-50 test bottles of various flavors from various vendors. After letting them steep for the appropriate times (fruit flavors a week or so and creamy flavors about a month), all my flavors are extremely muted with a bland taste.

I've done tests where I've prepared the same flavor with 5% concentration all the way up to 60% concentration in increments of 5% and still get the same results, barely tasting the flavor at 60% but with the same bland undertones. To test further I got some flavors that I know and love from Mt Baker Flavor and prepared them at between 15-40%. After steeping, I got similar results with the resultant flavors tasting nothing like I'm used to.

The only thing in common with all my juices was the PG/VG that I use. I purchased them from Vapor Shots. I purchased a small amount of PG/VG mix from Mt Baker Vaper and did a quick mix of fruit punch to test right away. I could taste the immediate difference as the flavor, not having been mixed for more than 10 minutes, tasted so much better than the same flavor I did at high concentrations with a week steep time.

My question is could PG/VG be the actual culprit (it appears to be in my case) and, if so, what supplier do experienced DIYers recommend for their PG/VG/Nic needs? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks.

If you have prime you can get a quart of each (around $13 each I think) shipped free in 2 days. That'll let you decide to get bigger sizes, I think they also have pints if you want smaller. I was having the same issue but it was my nic muting EVERYTHING..... picked up some of the VT nic.... oh wow... there's the flavor! World of difference. I ws already using Essential depot pg/vg.

I'm popping in on this one because I am curious, not because I have an answer. I am getting back in to Diy after a frustrated break, and now wondering about my previous process based on this question. Previously, I purchased 24mg vg, and mixed plain vg to my desired level. (Used to vape 100% vg). But in this thread I am seeing talk of buying nicotine, then the pg/vg? What? Did something change in the process or am I reading this wrong?

I hope you can forgive the break in...promise I am not trying to thread steal!

Alot of us buy 100mg nic (or whatever mg) in PG or VG then cut it down with additionally pg or vg....

So like VT nic is 100mg in PG... you use pg or vg (depending on target ratio) to cut it down to 24/18/12/6/ect... HTH

Okay gotcha. Makes sense! Never occurred to me the nic was probably higher.
