Can I pick one up at walmart or radioshack? On both sites I don't see them but you can't always go by that.

I called Radioshack and they put my on never ending hold, I hung up and called walmart and was told "dis whateva we go on dah shelves is what we got".

I know I wont get the best deal doing it this way but is there any place I can pick up a charger locally?

If you find one on any of those stores, let me know, it will be the very first ever.

I'm afraid you will have to order online.

This may sound strange, but you could try a hardware store....

I've seen quite a few rechargeable batteries in flashlights be 14500's and 18650's - and an 18650 charger, as long as its making a good connection, would work as well.

No promises on finding one, but its worth a look if you're going to be out and about trying anyway. I'd suggest bringing your battery with you to see if it will fit.

This may sound a little ghetto and definetely not my style but in a pinch find yourself a cell phone or a camera check if the batteries are 3.6 or 3.7v lith-ions. Now plug the charger into the phone or camera and remove the stock battery and run one wire from the + and one wire from the - terminals on the phone or camera battery contacts to the + and - terminals on the 14500. If your not sure of the battery type in the phone or camera DON'T DO THIS.....

Do not hook up the wires from the charging pack to the 14500, the charging circuit is typically built into the device not the charger.

Recently a Batteries Plus openned up near us, and their site says that they have a few 14500 batteries made by SAFT and Xeno even available at my local store, but the description is generic and doesn't say if they're protected or not (or even a price, for that matter). Also no guarantee about chargers, either, but maybe it's worth a shot? Anyone know if these brands are worthwhile or worthless?

Those are not rechargeable, but would be good for an emergency, I still think for emergency a box with 3 or 4 AA or AAA is the best / cheapest way to go.

Also good to know that Batteries Plus are finally catching on by selling at least some Li-ions.

Huh.... good eye, warp - I missed that minor detail. ;) So much for stopping off there... I had no idea that L-Ions were made that weren't rechargeable... Thanks for the head's up.
