If you are on a budget and can't afford the real deal then I would recommend the Nemesis or Stingray clones. They both come with tubes for an 18350, 18490/18500 and 18650 and another ring for a kick. The Nemesis is by far the best mech mod that I own. The Stingray is a close 2nd. If you go with the copper or brass you'll get the best hit because the voltage drop is lower than stainless steel.

As for RBA tanks, well they seem to get bigger all the time so I can't help you there. I'm sure somebody will come along with some recommendations.

I'm not a mech mod person, I'd much rather have control of my voltage. Partially because I'm not perfect with my coil building, and sometimes I make a sweeeeeeet 2 ohm coil, and sometimes I make an amaaaaazing 1.5 ohm coil...and with a mech, one of those coils would be fantastic and the other would be kinda meh. And those work well for me because I don't care for micro-coils or sub-ohming. I'm happy with my 2ish ohm coil and my ProVari.

As for RBAs, the smallest tank that I'm aware of is the GG Penelope. They're a bit spendy, and there is a learning curve to building them, depending on which version of the device you get your hands on...if you can get your hands on one. They're limited run, so they're fairly hard to find.

If you don't mind a bit bigger tank, I would definitely recommend a Kayfun/Russian style RBA. They're a bit bigger and a bit heavier, but they're easy to build and definitely deliver on the vapor and flavor.

I have to agree with Xaiver about the Penelope. I didn't mention that atty because it's pricey. It's about as tall as most RBA's but it's skinnier, around 18mm diameter. I like them so much that I have 6 of them, all bought on the classys for around $100 each but they aren't the latest version. The older ones take nr-r-nr wire where the V3 just uses resistant wire. They were worth every penny to me. There are a lot of pieces and a learning curve but once you get it you can make a setup in 10 minutes. There are Youtube vids that show how to build a setup for the older and newer Penelope's.

If you're looking for simple and inexpensive, a clone topped off with the venerable RSST is a proven performer. They're dead easy to set up, and with the insulated wick hole, virtually impossible to short out. There's even a Pyrex version.

I run 3 mechs, all topped off with a RSST. They're rugged, provide an excellent vape, and for the price, can't be beat. And if one just happens to "disappear", it doesn't break the bank to get it replaced.

Food for thought and yet another option. :) given your "kinda small"

I use a REO Mini 2.1 for my dedicated out and about device. See my thread for questions and pics:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/552502-my-first-reo-thoughts-questions.html

The REO Grand might also be worth exploring.

This is a mechanical. A sqonker via a bottom feed atty. Pluses:

Built like a Sherman tank
Fits in the palm of my hand
Light
Turn the fire button to lock
Atty does not leak
Great flavor and vapor which requires a little o ring tweak to the RM2 (RBA/atty) which is easy to do and well documented
Easy peasy builds
Great support via the ECF Forum at Reos Mods and the mother ship at reosmods.com

Could be minuses. Depends on how you use the Mini with some info on it's big brother the Grand

Only holds 3ML in the bottle. The Grand holds 6ML
The Mini uses 18490 Bats. The grand uses 18650
NOT cheap
Non regulated device. No "Kick" in current models.

BTW, I also own "conventional" Mechanicals and a gaggle of ProVaris plus Kayfuns and other RDAs but IMHO, none are as well suited for an out and about device as my REO Mini.

HTH

SeniorBoy leads you in the right direction with the REO suggestion.

REO has the form factor of what you're used to, but trumps the VTR in weight reduction by, like, 4.5 tons. It is CnC milled from billet aluminum. Rebuildable RDAs are available aplenty, or most drip-only RDAs can be easily modified (usually) for BF.

A REO is the last mod you have to buy. Unless you want extras to mix and match colors/textures.

The expense is worth the hassle-free, dern-near indestructable , always satisfying vape you want.
