That seems a bit complicated.

To someone with no prior experience in electronics or being a hobbyist i can see where this would look complicated but in reality its all quite simple one you understand what things are for. I'm new to this as well but i actually have most of those small tools like micrometer, forceps, mini torch and dental pick tools etc.

Yeah, it's really not all that complicated once you understand Genisis rba's and how to run them. I ended up with this stuff quite naturally as I learned. None of it was all that expensive either, though the ohms meter was not easy to get being sold out everywhere. I was lucky to get email that it was in stock and was right on top of it. BTW, I had no prior experience in electronics either. I just did my homework and got what I needed.

If you are going to run an rba you absolutely MUST have the means to check the ohms resistance of your build.

ok so i bought 100 ft kanthal wire 32 gauge , 15 ft of silica wick and the igo L. The silica wick is expensive. My questions are will 1600 heat resistance silica work or should i return it will it resist he@at too much? Also now i know why so many love cotton besides huge vapor....its cheap compared to silica or ekowool jeeze! But yeah will the silica.i.bought work or too high of heat resistance? Good thing or bad thing?

No, 1600 heat resistance is a good thing. Means it can reach that temperature before it catostrophically fails. Scorches, desintigrates, degrades, etc. Thus to clean a coil with silica or even ekowool, you can dry fire the coil clean with the silica still in the coil, most silica is rated between 1100 to 1600 degrees, higher that rating the more punishment it will take :)

As far as taste of silica, it can take a bit to break in the flavor on it some times, but once it does finally get broken in, it is a good vape. All factory Clearomizers come with some form of silica wicking, 510 dripping atomizers also use silica. Compared to a standard cartomizer, silica doesn't mute the flavor as much so you will notice a drastic change in flavor at first, it is also very very easy to work with in rebuildables, very maleable, though can be fragile if you abuse it (ie, wrapping wire to tightly can cut and fray it)

I haven't used silica before, but have used cotton mostly and recently ekowool silica. So far I'm liking it alot but its only been a week on one coil. I've read you can reuse it alot before it burns though. Also it's very absorbent. It's been working great and it's kind of nice not to have to worry about burning it as easily as the cotton.

Thanks for ekowool info. Any video/picture links for wrapping coils for the Igo L. Also wondering if i can eventually make microcoils with 32 gauge kanthal wire and 3mm silica wick? Will that gauge be to high? Also do i need to have dual coils in the igo L for it to produce tons of vapor and throat hit? Im not sure about being able to fit 3mm wick with two coils in the igo L and i have no idea how to drill a bigger airhole and don't want to attempt it yet. Thanks in advance for any info that can help.

Hi Jay. Welcome to the ECF. So..... in terms of easi(er) build the RSST would be the one I personally would choose. I have that and a AGA t+ and a clone of the DID... The building(for me) in ease of assembly goes in that order too.... The RSSt has an isolated wick hole, and the tank cups around the bottom, so there is nearly no way to allow the wick to short to negative.

I'm a total beginner myself, but I just wanted to say that the RSST was my choice for a beginner setup, and add to that the fact the price is pretty reasonable, IMO.

You will need different wire for micro coils. I haven't really done them yet but have done semi micro coils with .5 mm. Ribbon wire. The ribbon wire allows more wraps (about 6-7) for about 2.2 ohms. I don't think you can do two coils on an Igo-l but I could be wrong. I recently got a cyclone AFC that allows dual coils but haven't tried it yet. From what I've learned, the guys with the huge vapor are using dual to quad coils with sub ohm coils. I may try a couple dual coils sub ohm this weekend. Just got this cyclone last weekend but haven't had a chance to try it all out yet :)

No, micro coils are not sub ohm coils. Sorry if I confused you. In order to do micro you need a lower gauge wire to allow for all the wraps to equal to 2.2 ohms or more. Maybe 30 gauge will work, or 28. I'm not sure but it would be hard to do a lot of wraps with 32 gauge, I would imagine, without it being fairly high ohms.

I second the RSST, I prefer my AGA-T2 because of the build quality and Pyrex tank but the non insulated wick hole makes hotspots hard to tackle, I use cigarette paper to remedy that and there are videos from Scott and Dan on Youtube on how thats done. I agree with the wire and mesh suggestions as well, have a variety of different materials, 28-32 gauge kanthal and 300 to 500 mesh. It takes a while to get it down pat but having a VV with an impedance check is handy. Oh and as I could have used the advice myself, buy batteries, a good amount of them 32 gauge is a great start but high Ohm coils need a healthy voltage to work really well and this will be where you see the merits in high drain cells like the Panasonic 18650PD.

Ok so micro coils are subohm coils? I got confused bc i see a lot of people doing micro coils with 30 or 32 gauge kanthal wire in posts and pictures on reddit and put it on top of a vamo.

Coil configuration and resistance are two different things. Micro coils can be sub-ohm or super-ohm. Sub-ohm coils can be standard coils or micro coils, just as can super-ohm coils.
