I've been trying to figure out what build would be best for flavor. I've heard good things about micro-coils but I'm either doing something wrong or my expectations are too high.

I've played with normal dual coil builds around .2-.3 ohms around anywhere from a 3/32 - 1/8 inch bit. I love the warm dense vape but I feel like flavor could get even better. Tonight I tried a build on a 1/16" bit with 25 gauge with 7/8 wraps and ended up at .28 ohms. It vapes and tastes pretty good but I seem to get burnt hits very easily. Much quicker than my previous .3 build with (I think) 5/6 wraps on a 3/32 bit.

Am I doing something wrong with my micro coil builds or do you all recommend a different kind of build for flavor? I can't build super high considering I like warm vapes and I'm on a mech.

FYI I'm using an authentic copper vanilla and a Tobeco Tohb. Usually only one air hole open on each side to keep the vape warmer and flavor better.

P.S. If there's a thread about this already please point it out. I couldn't find a good one.

Im currently using a mutation x with 24 gauge wire with dual micro coils at a 6/5 wrap around .34 ohms and for a flavor hit i just close off some of the air holes but i find im getting pretty good flavor with full open air flow also but not as much so try to restricting the air flow a lil and you should notice an increase of flavor or try a stronger flavored juice so its not as muted

I'm on the same quest lately as well. Just replaced my beloved parallel 26ga 5 wrap 1/8" coils at 0.19 for some 24ga 6 wrap 1/8" @ 0.29. It's cooler so I can close off some holes on my MX1 but the flavor isn't much better.

Haven't tried twisted coils on a mech yet (they're fine on a reg mod but no better than a massive dual coil). I might try twisted on the mech next. Twisted 24ga around 5 wraps should hit 0.2ish. I'd like to find something not too warm around 0.25 that really chucks the flavor. I'm afraid Claptons and some of the other crazy coils have way too much heat capacity to work well on a mech.

Bump for suggestions. :)

try wrapping 8/7 wraps with 26 gauge around a 25 mm. you'll find it will come out to around .55 The extra wraps will give you a little more coverage to the wick and will still fire fine. This should work great with a tobh.

What are you wicking with? I always recommend KGD Japanese organic cotton. Also, try to use less cotton and make sure the wick is slightly tight when your pulling it through. Operative word Slightly.

you can choke the wick itself by having it to thick, it works the same way a dish sponge would if you squeeze it tight and hold it it wont soak up any water.

A true microcoil which is 1/16id(1.5mm) and make sure your center hole is lined up with the center of your coil/s, you could vape the tobh without a drip tip as i do when i use it and you will be able to pull more air, harder over the coil/s which will up your flav and clouds.

you dont have to get so close to the negative posts with your coil's as i have in the pic, i only did that to cut down on total length of wire used, rather than having two legs extending to the outside of the atty i only have one. Make sure you double check when you put the atty together that your coils arent touching the inside of your atty going this close to the air inlet.

This twisted coil I made is hands down the flavor king among anything else I've put together so far.

22g and 30g twisted together on a Mephisto clone, finally settled at 0.29Ω. Thick vapor and the flavor... sweet Jeebus, the flavor. A heads up though, it's a very thirsty build. If I vaped on it all day I could probably go through 15ml of my favorite max VG.

I think you mean 2.5 mm

Looks twisted. Got some more specs on the coils?

Hey Slippy, what's that black box? Looks regulated. ;-)

I'm on the hunt for a killer coil build for a MECH right now. My 24ga 10 wrap macro duals have plenty of flavor at 5.5-6.5V.
