Hello--

First off, I apologize if this has been discussed previously.

I have an eGo style CE4 battery, and I'm wondering what the best way is to clean around the battery contact point. I followed a video on YouTube, and I accidentally pressed the contact point down too far, and my tanks stopped working. Luckily, it was only a week old, and my local shop swapped me a new battery.

Anyway, is there a safe way to do this without risking damage to the contact terminal? Thanks for any info!

With CE clearos it's almost always the clearos center pin that needs lifting.

How to fix a couple issues with the Vision Stardust eGo Cartomizer (CE4) - YouTube

With clearos with replaceable coils, always check to see if the coil is fully tightened into the base... which if not, will leave the center pin short of the battery's center pin.

When it's the battery:

... but easy does it. The pin is connected to wires internally and they can disconnect if the pin goes out too far. In my experience, once the battery center pin needs lifted, then it almost always needs lifted after that, that's why I always check the clearo first. In those cases where the battery's center pin always needs a lift, some here have used o-rings around the base of the pin.

In general from reports in this forum, and in my experience, true Joye batts don't have the 'center pin' issues - it's always the clearo, esp. Vision/CE types. Kangers are better but not all the time.

To prevent - only screw in the battery on the charger until the light goes red on the charger and the led button on the battery flashes - no further. When screwing on a clearo/atty/carto, only tighten enough to where the you can take a drag (coil activated).

For cleaning I take a dry Qtip and wipe the outside and well before charging each time.

Thanks for the quick replies!

I'm not 100% sure what brand my battery is. It initially came in a green blister pack with a USB charger, and I don't think there was a manufacturer labeled on the packaging. Since I've already had the center pin issue, I'm assuming this isn't a Joyetech product...?

Probably not, but most clones perform ok - just not as long and not with the short and charge protection and other features of the Joye eGo-c and eGo-c upgrade batts - again, in my experience.
