I recently got an old-style Bolt. When I tried to fire it up, nothing. Then I noticed there was paint on the bottom few threads. So, I only partially threaded it, and it fires up fine. Now I just need to take the paint off the bottom few threads and I should be home free.

The question is: What should I use to take the paint off the threads of my Bolt?

I've been googling a little. And, so far it looks like brake fluid would work best. I just want to make sure I only take the paint off the threads and nothing else. And, that I don't damage the threads.

Any ideas?

At your own risk:
Acetone would probably work pretty well- or any solvent for that matter.
Fill a dish with enough to submerge the threads and let soak for a couple of hours. A soft toothbrush should remove any paint stuck in the threads. Had to do this once or twice with non-e-cig related parts. Seemed to work well enough.

I can see not wanting to use chemicals, but that's really the only way without taking some small amount of integrity away from the existing threads. I'm a carpenter and use different solvents on a daily basis. Laquer thinner would work best, a little on a q-tip, though I'm not sure I'd reccomend it to anyone other than those familiar with using it. Acetone would be good too (nail polish remover), though it would take a little more effort. Less of am irritant would be naptha (zippo lighter fuel) but that would require a lot more elbow grease.
