I'm curious how using vaping to quit the dip is going to work :). I hope it does work for you and please keep us updated. I have dipped but never really cared for it plus I was a 3+ pack a day smoker for the past 10 years or so. I know with smoking you have to over come the Hand Mouth Factor and Nicotine Addiction. Please post on how vaping does for you. Also buy the best kit you can afford. I started out trying to go cheap as I could and it ended up costing me more as I bought the cheap vaping pens and ended up spending more to upgrade after the fact.

I want to personally thank everyone who posted in this thread with suggestions and comments. I've looked and researched every single device posted, and I'm going to go do a second look through in a few minutes now that I have some free time from a busy Saturday. Susan I've also started watching the beginner vaping video playlist you posted here. :)

You all have made this a very pleasant introduction for a vaping newbie. It may be a few weeks before I can get a set up as I have some bulk 10-can dip tubs I need to get through first, but I'll be sure to post here once I get everything purchased.

EDIT: Grimwald that EVOD blister pack looks like a great deal also. Will I need to buy the suggested "Kanger Coil Replacement heads" that are below it on that page? I've heard a coil can last from a day to almost a week before it needs replaced. Is that true?

Thanks!!

Yes, get a few (5 pk) of coils. Eventually you will want a second battery for a backup or a new bigger device. One battery and tank will get frustrating while you recharge and refill. But the single will allow you to test vaping.

I would caution you on products made by eleaf. They're great while they're working and they are indeed inexpensive but we've had two that had some pretty decent issues.

I agree , if you want dirt cheap and warranty/overall quality is not important they are fine though and the cheapest you can get for high wattage.

You can get much better quality like a Sigelei , the all aluminum P4U iPV 2S 60 W (upgradeable) or iPV2X 60 watt mods ( superior quality to the newer iPV D2, D3 iPV 4 and iPV 5 imo ) with authentic high quality YiHi chipsets for around $40.00 now.

These mods can last years and are well worth choosing over the cheaper throwaways.

What are all of you guys and gals opinions on the eGo One Starter Kit? It's $36 and it looks pretty dang sleek. (yes, I'm still researching before I make the big purchase! lol) I saw the suggestion for the iJust starter kit got quite a bit of likes, but I was concerned that the coils only went up to .5 ohms. My friend who vapes told me I'd want something like the eGo One because it has 1.0 ohm coils. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks :)

That's a good price and a decent kit. I own the Mega Version myself. All in all it's a sweet little vape and can produce clouds even bigger than the subox kits on a fully charged battery. Since I got two Kbox Minis, I only use my Ego One Mega for work and leaving the house. I use the .5ohm CLRs but I don't rebuild them, they just have better wicks and bigger juice holes to me!

Although I would definitely recommend this to a beginner, I would honestly go with anything VW instead. The ability to fine tune our wattage or temp far out weights being limited to the battery's charge level. The thing to keep in mind if you do decide to get the Ego One is that although it has safety features, it's still unregulated so once it drops to 3.2 volts as the battery drains you're going to notice it and it's going to flash 40 times and shut off with low voltage protection.

Just something to keep in mind. Other than that it's a good kit! :)

For me, neither the eGo ONE or iJust 2 makes 100% sense.
Both of them have their good points.
Between those two, I'd prefer the eGo ONE, as the iJust 2 vapes out-the-box at something like 58 watts.
Such a lack of flexibility with both. Great if you know what you are getting into.

Hey everyone!

I've been a 2-3 can a day dipper (gross!) for about 8 years now. I know it's bad for me, but I can't seem to kick lady nicotine. I've tried quitting most definitely over a dozen times in those 8 years but even after taking breaks from dip I always come back.

After 8 long years of 2-3 cans per day I've obviously started noticing signs of damage done to my mouth that I can't undo, such as; recessed gums, yellow and stained teeth, and bad breath. I've avoided going to the dentist out of pure shame of my mouth, and now it's time to change.

I want to start vaping. I know vaping mainly helps ex-smokers, but I'm hoping it can help an ex-dipper out too!

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a starter kit, coils, and maybe 1 or 2 bottles of juice for $50 USD or under for everything. I'd like to start as cheap as possible just to see if it will be a good fit for me first, and then jump up to better devices if it turns out to work out well.

Thank you all for your time!

I'm a big fan of the iStick 20 & 30 and Mini Nautilus combo. I have two of them, an Innokin VV4 and a Kanger starter kit and I really like them all. You can't go wrong there, but you might also want to look at a starter kit from Aspire, that includes the USB cable, the wall charger and five Aspire atomizers. They usually go for around $50, but I've seen them for under $40 as well.

I think I've found my vaporizer with that Aspire starter kit.... THANKS!

So glad to hear it! Did you find a good price?

I really like that kit, because it provides everything you need when starting out, except juice. I think you'll love the fact that it's a glass tank, so you don't have to worry about juice cracking a plastic tank. I had a similar set up when I started vaping and I loved it, but I didn't buy it in a kit. I had to buy everything separately. Luckily, the guy in the vape shop gave me good advice on which tank and wall plug to buy, but if you buy it in a kit like that, you don't have to worry about everything being compatible. If you want another battery so you can charge one while you are vaping the other, I've seen a lot of the Aspire batteries, that will be compatible with your tank for around $20. If you have questions, ask away. There are plenty of people here who want to help.

Be sure to get enough nicotine in your juice. I started out using 12 mg. nicotine juice and there wasn't enough nicotine in it to keep me satisfied unless I was constantly vaping. I wasn't able to get off the analog cigs until I upped the nicotine in my juice to 18 mg. So if after a week or so you find you still need the analogs in addition to your vape, try upping the nic content of your juice.

Hope you enjoy your new vape and the whole vaping experience!

Trusted, proven, starter-friendly, IMO from budget to still budget in ascending order :
- EVOD
- iclear 16 ( dual coil on a budget )
- EVOD glass ( bottom dual coil, pyrex glass tank, a must for certain flavours that are known to be hard on plastic)

They won't tax your wallet and leave more $$$ to stock up on some liquids, yet they pack enough oomph ( for their size ) for you to decide whether vaping is your thang or it ain't :)
Then you can still 'upgrade' or stick with them...know a good number of vapers who are perfectly fine with them and have no inclinations to go for anything bigger.
If you stick to vaping , it's the liquids that take a bite out of your wallet.
Batteries, mods, atomizers - they'll last you a while.

Take up vaping and then we take it from there. :)

Like rebuildable atomizers and DIY liquids.
After the initial investment on that, running costs for wick wire and base materials for mixing liquids will be a pittance.

Be sure to leave plenty of room in your budget for liquid. I recommend a local shop where you can sample different flavors. I wasted a lot chasing that "perfect" flavor.

Honestly, you can get a perfectly good evod blister pack for under $10, just to see if this whole vaping thing is right for you. It's not a long term solution, but can be a good place to start.

EVOD 650mAh Variable Voltage Blister Pack Starter Kit

There are a lot of good budget entry points for vaping. I started with an EVOD starter kit..

The first upgrade I would do is upgrade the mod to a mod with a real 510 and use an adapter until you upgrade the tank, then upgrade the tank to a tank with a 510 pin instead of Ego threads.

When I start someone I start them on an X6 mod. It can use either Ego threads or 510 devices without looking weird or wobbly.

The x6 has 1300 mah. The only downside is you will have to update the mod if you go below 1/2-1.5 ohms.

I had an X6 that fired my .8 ohm coils but have found a few recently that just blinks on Sub-Ohm coils. They must have changed the chip. In the last few months.

PERFECT advice.

I too started with 18 mg.

DIYing my ejuice I lowered my nic in baby steps till I went nic free Dec 28th 2015.

My advice for saving money is if you stick with vaping, don't be afraid of getting into DIY e-juice. I waited a while to start doing it and it's not that hard and you don't have to spend a lot of money. I found a recipe for something similar to what I was vaping and bought the ingredients for that. I got lucky and loved that one, but you can start with just a few small sized flavor bottles and go by a few recipes you think you might like and move on from there.

All one needs is a good ejuice calculator babd a few ingredients.
