I noticed this week that Kanger has changed their coils once again!

I was looking for something through a bunch of websites and noticed that the PT3 picture was different and when i looked I saw they are releasing new coils for them that have just about the whole stem gone. Which means on the new coils (the ones with the top on the inside of the sleeve which are incredibly hard to get apart) you have nothing to really grab onto to pull them apart! I can just look at them tell what a PITA it will be to try and get them apart without bending or denting them as I have been fighting the new design for rebuilding. So it looks like they are trying to further thwart us from rebuilding them. So i guess this is PT3 / Aerotank coil v3. grrrrr

So I promptly ordered some of the older style PT3 / Aerotank coils from a website that i knew still had some. You know the easy ones to rebuild that you can take apart with your fingers.

So just a heads up for you guys that like to rebuild these. :)

You sure you're not confusing "new coils" with the short run of no stem PT3/Aero heads that came out right when the PT3/Aero's first came out? Those coils were around for awhile then they revised them to have a chimney again.

Then the coils were further revised for the new style Aeros, with no exposed wicks(kinda carto style) and 2x2 stacked feed holes on the shell, then the further revision where the holes were replaced with slots.

I'm unable to find anything indicating they are returning to the non chimney (no stem) models.

Well when i got my PT3 they all had the long stems and now the pictures for replacement coils i am seeing are the VERY short stems. These are not the half height stems they were putting out at one point but tiny stems.

They have changed the style once already. The v1 coils had the wick coming out the side with the chimney cap that went on the outside of the housing. And you cannot find these readily available anywhere. Only a few sites have them still up. They then changed the style and now have only a slot on the side and the chimney cap is on the inside of the housing which are the v2 coils which also fit the Aerotank line as well and are advertised as such. Most sites are now selling this type. So it does make sense that they would change them. I am not saying the changed the fit into the base but the style of the chimney. And with the new style of the chimney seated inside the body it is hella hard to get them apart.

Do a search on google images for Protank 3 coils and look at them. Have you seen those coils ever? TLS01 had not and I had not seen those coils at all before until now either. Trust me I would like to be wrong!

Yes i have seen them, they came with ALL(AFAIK) the early/first run of PT3's and many, if not all the the early Aeros, but since then ive seen nothing that comes with them or anyone selling them, besides "new old stock" or PT3's that still come with them OEM.

FWIW here's basically the the full run of Kanger heads from oldest to newest.

So you are saying that those short ones are from the beginning of the release of the PT3? You know you may be right as I just did more searching of images and found an image of the packaging it was in. This one only has the aerotank listed on it so it must have been from the first run of them. I simply had not run across them before and figured they were changing them again. Those sites need to update their images!

I have some of the old and the new but i can't remember how the old ones vaped since i have rebuilt all the old ones I had with cotton already. But I must say I do not like the newer ones in terms of longevity. They vape great but they do not seem to last as long as they did before from what I can recall. I have been burning through the new quite quickly. Less than a week of vaping while at work and need to change them. Unless I just got a bad batch of them. :glare: I have seen some other people mention the same thing about them so maybe it is just not me
