That is exactly what I do, with regards to the little piece of SB to get all the way to the bottom of the bores.
How come you never told us this and I had to re-invent the wheel? o_O

I do clip the little metal nub off the end of the bore mop to get a little deeper with it. Haven't had on come apart yet.
I was debating doing that... Guess I'll try it next time.

How many bore mops do you go through doing this? All three of mine look pretty grungy after two mods. I used one to do the cleaning/polishing with the Simichrome, a second to remove the excess polish, and a third to apply Ren Wax.

Yes, I did say two mods. Stand by. More pictures coming.

:D

Trade secrets, man!!!

Not really... I just never thought to mention it.

I'm glad you did, tho. :)

I wash the bore mops out with Dawn after I'm done. I reuse 'em over an' over. They last a good long time. :thumb:

What size mops are those again?

12ga :thumb:

Mine were labelled 10-12 gauge. Amazon has a 3-pak for $9.99 prime, but they could probably be gotten for less.

This was my first CeeCee; the first one Corey made in Copper, and for a long time, it was the only one he'd made in that material. His exact comment was:
Who'd o' thought that metal so soft could wreak such havoc on tooling, machinery,... and patience.....
Anyway, as everyone knows, copper does get some patina on it after a while. In its early stages, it can look quite interesting, but eventually, it gets kinda grungy looking, like this:

Although I've kept the contracts clean, I hadn't done the outside of this one in quite some time, and the bores, well..... Never. Unfortunately, the "before" picture of the bore ended up hideously out-of-focus so I won't post it here.

Here's the little pad of Scotch-Brite in the bottom, along with some Simichrome paste.

Resulting in a somewhat cleaner bore:

And the end-results:

Two mods that look almost like new:
