Hey bro... do a "white balance" with your camera in that light box. It should be in the menus somewhere and you just push the button with the camera facing nothing but a white surface, like your background.

Sure,....now you tell me.... now that super professional, sexy photo shoot time is over....

:D

Seriously, though.....thanks, buddy! I will try that. :thumb:

Sure thing. It's usually a minor difference but I'm seeing a lot of orange/pink halo around the mods and a white balance adjustment might help kill that off. Or, you could have a camera like mine that simply won't care about any silly adjustment and will continue to replicate colors badly. I had a pro photog buddy look at mine and his assessment? "Use your wife's iphone camera instead of this one."

Yeah, great... that's just great.

Thanks, guys!

I think the light box favors the brass.... It makes the aluminum look too gray.... they are super shiny in real life...

White balance, huh???

I'ma go look at that now.... ;)

If that doesn't do it just throw more 5500k light at the subject, that's always the answer to get better pics in a light box. MOAR LITE!

MOAR LITE!

Seriously though, your galaxy should be equal to any point and shoot camera at the $140 price point. This is the point and shoot I want to buy that should surpass the wife's iphone camera:

edit: oh duh, ECF doesn't like shopping links. It's a "Canon Powershot S100"

If you don't jump at least that high you might as well just use your galaxy.

Oh and go on amazon and get some 5500k (that's the color) lights, you can get four bulbs for something like $25 now, it's really cheap compared to days of yore. Throw as much light as you can on the subject behind the light tent's screens and you will really see a difference.

My lady makes glass tobacco pipes and I had to do a crash course in small item photography to figure out how to represent them on her web store.

The "incandescent" setting seems to work better...

I agree those last pics look better. It's quite a bit of difference: the metal definitely looks more like metal and less like clay.

Photography is weird. I hate it, I love it.

MOAR LITE further from the subject is better than less light closer to the subject. You literally cannot have too much light but you can definitely put it too close. Think about the sun. It's SOOOO much light but it's a looooong way away. That's why photos in sunlight are the best.

Or you could try turning up the exposure compensation on your phone camera. Thats the button that looks like +/- in your camera app

The quickest way to do it, is to put a lower case l right before the dot jpg in the BBCode.

I've put some spaces in the link below, so it would show the text...

You can also put an m for medium or an s for small. Just put it right before the .jpg in the link...

I use the l for all my pics....

Give it a shot... :)
