When guns are outlawed, only outlaw koalas will have guns

Much worse than that. What happens is that the criminals (ofc) have guns and the police have guns. The ordinary population have no guns and no koalas.

Koalas take to the trees, because it's safer and fewer gunfights there and anyone running from a gunfight on the ground is faced with 'i got here first' koala harris as they try to escape.

And when the koalas get to the trees, they have the sloths to contend with.

It is precisely because of this territorial struggle between sloths and koalas that many sloths leave their homeland in a quest to become one of the Doldrum Sloths.

Difficult to make a judgement from 200 years away.

Fascinating too are the range of crimes and the severity of sentences even 100 years ago.

And then look at what happens when most of that stops. We have to fear being overrun by Koala's.

Hey, if you brass users want your stuff to look like GOLD then polish with whatever then brasso until you don't see any more scuffing from the finishing pads and then put on a nice thick layer of brasso and hit it with a lighter. Make soot. Lots and lots of soot. Then rub the snot out of it.

There's something about the soot that brasso creates when you burn it that makes a phenomenally fine polishing compound. When you finish you'll wonder how it can feel so slick and perfect. Be warned, however: any "defect" like a machining mark or a dent or a chip in the edge will collect that black soot and stand out like a sore thumb.

Check it out on a spare AFC or drip tip or something, you'll be amazed. It does take a small daily swipe of brasso to maintain but if you want shiny this is how you're going to get it.

Also: if you use brasso on your raw aluminum (it works) don't do the lighter trick, just follow up the brasso+naptha wipe with simichrome. That stuff makes aluminum look and feel like it's waxed or something.

Highly polished brass is great if you want to see fingerprints all over something every time you touch it, and even the tiniest scratch to be conspicuous.

Yes, I used to carry a polished brass Zippo.

Yeah, you know about the maintenance then, Rossum... it's a real PITA but maybe you brass guys need to get cleaned up and put on a tie to go out some night. As long as you polish the thing and leave it alone it'll be pristine when it's time to tie the bow tie and drop that shiny nugget of goodness into your pocket.

Perish the thought. I wouldn't voluntarily go someplace where ties are expected or required. My theory has always been that ties make people stupid by restricting bloodflow (and therefore oxygen) to their brains.

I do believe the last time I wore a tie was for a funeral about 10 years ago...

I live in the country of Texas, and not many ties are ever worn here. I can't remember the last time I wore a tie. Even the last several funerals and weddings were blue jeans, boots and a button up shirt. Not too much for formalities here.
