Indeed, I do think clear coat would keep it from patinaing :)blink)...

Remember all the folks that put clear over their copper vein powder coat, on their REO's? My only concern would be scratching. If it got all scratched up, you'd have to strip it, and repaint. As you know, with the bare metal, you can just simply brush away the scratches, and patina, for that matter, with a scotch brite pad. If scratching the clear coat isn't a concern, I'd say go for it. As long as air and moisture can't get to the surface of the metal, it cannot patina... :)
Would you say it might scratch with clear acrylic the same as the one you showed with cerakote? [emoji50]

Cerakote is harder than acrylic paint. However,....Wes has knocked his mod off the welding table, and watched it skid across the concrete floor, more than once....

Neither Cerakote, nor acrylic will stand up to that guy's abuse... Normal folks though,.....either should be fine, but acrylic would be way easier to strip and redo, than Cerakote. You basically have to blast the Cerakote to remove it....

As I've stated before the cerakote holds up better and is less prone to scratching with the harder metals such as 7075 and 7068. As you know the copper is fairly soft  All that being said Aal I wish you'd cote a copper as a test of how well it would hold up;)

if you decide acrylic you can always touch up a scratch with nail hardener and buff it smooth, just another thought. I have used it on my buttons on my pecos and it holds up quite well and with a couple of women in the houde there is always extra(confiscated by me) bottles around

After 3 years of lurking/using another bottom fed mod here on ECF, I stumbled across this forum. All I can say is wow! Sweetest looking mod ever! Finally started posting after reading the first 200 pages here to be able to PM Corey. I need to get on the list for one asap. Wondering what the wait time is looking like now?

Hey, KB! :D

Good of you to join us! The wait time is very short now. Cranking out 5, sometimes more, per week, has finally gotten rid of the ridiculous wait times.... :thumb:

I've got you on the list, buddy! I might even be able to work you into this week's batch. If you want 7075 or brass, and if you're ready, of course. :)

Just lemme know. Thanks!

I'm really tempted to try EverBrite or PortectaClear...
Restore Metal and Keep Metal Looking Its Best

I asked the copper guy (he does all kinds of custom copper on high end houses) at one of my jobsites about protecting copper Friday. He suggested ProtectaClear as it can be wiped off with solvents. He did say to be sure and get it 100% clean and PH neutral or it would spot.

Yeah, they recommend cleaning the metal with xylene first.
