Pinch (the least because of no moving contact to battery design, so pitting between the silvers which is far less and easier to remove)

I hope you're not confusing oxidation and pitting.

Pitting is holes.

Oxidation is the formation of an oxide layer that can be removed.

Rust
Silver oxide
Copper oxide
Aluminum oxide

You are right. I don't know the difference. This is what happens with mine after one day. I need to polish every day. Deoxit gold does nothing.

Dreaded black spot.

Silver oxide.

Just keep cleaning it.

Or sand it a little each time just on the black spot to widen your contact area so it happens less.

Little by little with very high grit.

Hey Corey was not trying to diss the CC or anything. As I said this happens with everything I own. Probably I'm a bit loose with maintenance.

Thanks a lot Man!!!

No worries, buddy. I didn't take it that way. :)

I do think the silver negative contacts'll help you, as well. :thumb:

Thanks - ordered :thumb:

Guessing I just use a wee bit with each use. Neg and pos contact? Is it easier to apply to the neg of the battery?

Not necessary to apply every time. It stays put pretty well. Yep, just a little on both ends of your battery'll get it. :thumb:

Nice work, DB!

It might be a good idea to put another piece of heat shrink on the contact, and maybe a piece on the reo screw, as well... That heat shrink, being pressed against the threads of that screw, over time,...things might get a little sparky...

Hog out is not really the proper term for what you did there... I think Corey is right, your gonna need to put some extra wrap on both of those. How did you make that silver contact? Is it just silver solder on top of the Reo spring?

Indeed, already addressed the issue. Used the insulator off of the stock contact, installed it over the existing insulator and took the edge off of the threads as well. Not a lot of clearance Clarence. No need to go BOOM! :?:

Yep, 4.5% silver solder with a little dab on the plate so that it makes contact when compressed.
