A lot of that has to do with the fact that we have a brass negative contact that's threaded into the body...

as well as the beryllium copper positive contact with silver contact pad...

In the interest of full disclosure,..... NF talked me into giving 7075 a shot... It is definitely taking more time to machine, but it's not horrible. Bits heat up a little quicker, so I'm having to take it slower than I do with 6061 or brass.

We'll see what's really goin' on once I start boring the big holes... So far, so good though...
I was really glad to see that things were going well so far! I tend to go toward overkill sometimes on materials but I want more durability from my metal mods. I feel that 7075 is a good option at least for now;):thumb:

Receivers, sure. But barrels? I don't think so!
Actually you're correct in that a lot of the receivers especially in AR style rifles are using 7075... Strong, lightweight... Not really appropriate for barrels at the higher velocities and higher pressures. 7075 is used for barrels in smaller calibers with lower pressures. :) Beyer Barrels - 10/22 Barrels

They cheat by using a "Chromalloy steel liner". :p

HRH is very happy with it. She is picky with her mods (who isn't right?) and only uses her Dibi, Red Sky Cruisers and now this.

The button press on it is ideal, it's small enough for her hands and heavy enough to cause anyone concussion! She says to say 'thanks', CC, so thanks indeed.
