Ha-ha. I did too, but they don't have the current version of the squonk hole. They also need a mod sent to them to fix it. That ain't happenin'.

Fortune favors the Bottom Feeders.
Meh.

If I wanted one for the new squonk hole mod, I wouldn't care that the squonk hole on the wrap was square.

It's the run around and lies that keeps me from the slightest want of any of their products.

I've worked for companies that played those games. Every one of them was run by a scumbag with the facade of being everybody's friend.

In business, I don't want ANY friends. Only truthful, reliable partners. Sugar coating lies don't help me meet my deadlines and only peeves off customers and potential clients.

That's fair. I remember some S* going down. I can't justify sending the CC rider in after all that.

The problem with their product not covering all the metal also just doesn't work for me.

My issue is that the patina is kinda gross looking, and I figure clear cerakote may be the best answer. I was curious to know if anyone had thought about going down this particular rabbit hole...

What's the provari 2.5 use? Is that cerakote? Cause I had scratches all over my black one in a few days just from being in my pocket... with keys... and batteries... gasp...

It may have been. It lists as a "durable ceramic coating" or Zenkote.

I'm really looking to have a barrier against my corrosive bodily secretions (eeeew!). My sweat stains this thing like there's no tomorrow. You can see exactly how I hold it. Vide:

I figure, since I won't be putting it in with my keys, a clear matte coating should prevent the sweat staining. As long as the inner faces arent sprayed, it should work...

Yep I seriously considered cerakote for my first CC. From what I understand one of the main reasons for cerakote to chip aside from incorrect application is the hardness of the metal being coating. Ie 7075 is going to have less chance of chipping than 6061 aluminum.
Not really sure why one would want a coating or wrap since spending a few minutes with a scotchbrite pad and it looks like new;)

Well you posted pics while I was typing. That's some serious aluminum patina you've got happening there....Cerakote might not be a bad option especially if your mod is 7075""" which I suspect it is ;)

I used clear acryl lacquer (varnish) on a copper vein reo, and it seem it protected it just fine. Didn't put much but I don't see a reason why it wouldn't work on a CC.
Glossy? My experience with lacquer and shellac is that it's usually extremely glossy. I'm looking for a satin or matte finish...

Yes mine is glossy semi gloss actually. For matt I use alkyd based lacquer but it is yellowish.

@custom-classic Bro, thank you for taking time off this week and for taking it slow.

If I may, this is going to be Sloth's take on Christmas time

This time of year is always a tug of war inside my soul. There are several reasons, I think they're worth offering up for reflection. The first and most personal which I'll get out of the way is the loss of and lack of family...by loss of, I mean my mom, and this'll be my 3rd Christmas without her. By lack of, I mean the rest of us are scattered and don't get to see each other often on holidays because we all lead busy lives and half of us (not me though) run our own business.

More broadly, I was raised in a southern baptist home, so while I am not a religious person (at all), I carry with me an appreciation and respect for the true spirit of the season. I emphasize true not only in reference to Christ but what Christ stood for. This is a time of year to spend with loved ones, to reflect upon what is important in life. And at the other end of this long rope called Christmas Tug-o-War we've got the materialistic side of things which, I won't completely bash, but it really does dampen the spirit. When we see people honking their horns in parking lots, driving in dangerous ways, storming shopping malls and we hear more of this sort of thing than the good deeds that are surely abundant this time of year, I find it hurting my perspective.

So let's keep that perspective in focus. This holiday season I am grateful to have found a family in all of you. Corey, again, thanks for taking it slow. In order to keep doing what you're doing with love, you must take care of yourself, and bro, we all need time off my friend :)

Happy Holidays fams

I think the Sloth is a brother I didn't know I had! Like him, this is also my third Christmas without my mother. In fact, her passing was3 years ago yesterday. My extended family is scattered far and wide. I also was raised Southern Baptist. But I do try to go to church from time to time. Christmas at my place is rather subdued. We will go to my sister's place for dinner and take my 81 year old father with us as he doesn't like to drive that far. I'm thankful that we will at least have a small family time.
Corey, you so deserve some good family and friends time. You've done so much, given so much of yourself for us that we really do want you to have an enjoyable, restful holiday! Merry Christmas, buddy, and Merry Christmas to all of you out there in CC land!:)

That's sum staining, I have my AL one for months and that doesn't happen to me,

There's a cure for that, but you have to move to Colorado to get it :thumb:

I really appreciate everyone understanding the time off thing. That means a lot to me. :thumb:

Here's a pic of My buddy Wes's mod that he put a clear Cerakote finish on...

That was an air cure, matte clear. It looked great for a day or two. But Wes is hard on stuff...

It didn't take long for him to get it all scratched up. You should see it now. It looks really bad. :(

Poor little fella can't just take the scotch brite to it and make it like new again. He'll have to blast the Cerakote off first, then brush or reapply the Cerakote...

I'll try and get a pic of it tomorrow when I see him. Brace yourselves,....it ain't pretty...

i thought about it. i actually do duracoat on firearms on the side. but ceracoat and dura coat does not hold up well on mods. trust me i know. or you can just look at the other mods that are ceracoated. i would recommend getting a can of clear plasti dip. it will protect your mod and give it i nice feel. plus you can peel it off and reapply anytime you want with no tools or harm to your mod at all. plus its only 8 bucks if you dont like it.

This! ^^^ So much this! Ever needed to waterproof something until you can get back to fix it properly? Need to repair a tool grip? Need more grip on a tool grip? PlastiDip is the one-size-fits-all answer! Call now and we'll DOUBLE your order! :w00t: But really, this stuff is great, it's Duct tape in a spray can (or just a can if you want)!
