I'm 44 and am starting to realize I'm too old to drink bourbon until midnight and still get up for work at 5:00AM without feeling like I've been hit by a truck. That's definitely a young man's game.

My body tells me I'm over the hill too. Too many years of heavy work, railroad and then house building and remodeling. I don't climb up any ladders or scaffolds anymore and certainly not climbing up to any more roofs! Your line of work is definitely rough, too! Now, if I have to dig a hole to plant a small tree, I have to think about that one for a bit!47 here but my body feels 90 most days, too many years of landscaping and pond building. Pallets of stone and boulders take their toll.
I gave that stuff up a long time ago. Just can't play those young folks games anymore. I'm good now with just a drink, or a couple of beers. I like waking up clear headed.I'm 44 and am starting to realize I'm too old to drink bourbon until midnight and still get up for work at 5:00AM without feeling like I've been hit by a truck. I know I'm not going to. It's not even being made until just after the New Year. Your tracking doesn't show that it's close? Maybe it'll surprise you and show up.Not lookin good for gettin my brassey for Christmas![]()

It's been in route from OK for 4 days
A whole lot more money than I'd ever put into a tree! 4' tall $30 trees are more to my liking. I'd love to have some instant big trees, but the prices they command makes me quite content to have them grow from small ones. And now I work in an air conditioned and heated shop. Love it. I'm doing cabinet finishing now and it's so nice doing that instead of being at the mercy of the weather.I've been out of that line of work for awhile now. When the economy tanked and people weren't putting money into real estate like before I took a part time job marketing for a restaurant. I found out I kinda enjoyed it and have been managing one for the last 8 years. It's nice working inside when it's 100 outside.
The largest trees I ever planted were a pair of 20' tall Phoenix date palms. The 2 of them were a full load on a flat bed trailer, the root balls were 6' wide X 3' deep and the holes had to be hand dug. The homeowner had 16K just in those 2 palms![]()

I just love customers like that! We have one job we're getting ready to start that has over 100k in cabinets! Love folks with lots of money and don't mind spending it for things they wantI was hoping to get the pond job the same customer was doing but he ended up bringing in a crew from South Africa that he had found online. From what I heard, his final cost on the pond was 250K, money was no object for him.
You're both old farts
