Rayon is a completely different animal from cotton and goes against the grain from everything we've learned about using too much cotton. Where we just want enough cotton to be able to smoothly pull it back and forth through the coil making sure to make full and even contact on the inside of the coil with out bunching up, with Rayon the objective is to pull it back and forth to where it is fairly snug. Almost to the point where you can pull the mod to fall over on it's side without actually doing so. The other thing with the Rayon is that it takes quite a bit more seed time to fully break in as opposed to cotton. It will also benefit by fluffing the wick to each end of the coil the same as with the cotton...;)

all I use in my tanks and normal drippers is rayon now....I prefer the flavor, find it to be cleaner....but since it only wicks, and doesn't absorb liquid like cotton, I was simply wondering if anyone found a method of trimming the tails that works best in a squonk mod :p

Really the only picher of her that I had time to take... So much moving around with 7 family members to coordinate. I figure we walked 25-30 miles in 4 days.

And, obligatory monkey:

I prefer rayon as my go-to wicking material. I cut my tails at a 45 degree angle and trim it to just rest on the deck and leave the floor exposed for proper drainage. Like DB mentioned, you need to add more rayon compared to cotton and make it a tighter fit thru the coil because as rayon ages with juice it will shrink a bit. If it shrinks too much after a bit of use and doesn't make contact with the coil all the way around you will get spit back and hot juice pops. I wick my nuppins for about 5-6 good pulls before I squonking again.

I have used thinner tails too, but need to squonk every other hit since it won't hold as much juice. There's a whole group of squonkers that prefer less wicking and squonk every hit for the freshest taste. Personally I like a few pulls before I have to squonk again, so it eventually becomes a matter of personal preference.

anyone else using rayon? If so, how are you cutting your tails?

I use Rayon. I have 2 Derringer setups on CC mods that I will get pictures of for you tomorrow that show my wicking. I don't have to squonk as much as you describe.

I won't ask why you live in a state that requires "registration". o_O
Point was I have 2 attached, registered deadly weapons due to an "incident" where I avoided getting stabbed in the back by "disabling" the aggressor.

Because of that I've also lost the privilege of coming into contact with firearms.

The courts weren't interested in the details... only if I caused what was in the gruesome photos.

Clearing that up isn't a top priority... yet.

And / yet / also... we should be moving to Tennessee within the next couple months. Contract signed and earnest money check going out tomorrow.

Though dunno about registration of firearms there, I do know license to carry is an option many there opt for.

Even though you are not here yet, let me welcome you to Tennessee :)

You can carry in your vehicle without a permit but elsewhere permit needed. We currently have a bill in the house for open carry without a permit provided you keep the registration card of said firearm on your person. Today, you do not have to register from private sales.

Good to get info from the biggest gun on the forum.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

We'll be right off exit 273 of I-40, up the street from the lake/dam that feeds the Caney Fork river... if we're ever in town simultaneously and you get a weird hankerin' to meet the family.

The kiddos have a couple cool toys too. IIRC, you might be just the right height to enjoy my daughters hot pink go kart.

Love an "incident" with a happy ending. Sorry to hear about your troubles cleaning up afterwards... Good luck in the future!
