Spent awhile frantically looking for the Scotch-Brite ultra fine pads late this afternoon. Was told "we can get it shipped in" more than once. Restrained the response "so can I" each time. Wanted to shine the CC up for it's debut as my first CC. Not so much the way it's gonna happen.

Without further ado, please meet C³PO:

Corey, all I can say is this...

I don't think I can say much that hasn't been said. This mod kinda ruins other mods for me, and especially in this thread, that's a given. I don't have many friends that vape, and I don't go to vape shops almost ever, so I can't really show this off. That kinda bums me out. More people need to know about these...

Picked up a 3-pack of Scotch-Brite Ultra Fine at Napa today in anticipation of "the Event". Think it was $6 or so.

Need a little little help here.

I'm trying to remove to old 510. Using the tools from Corey, I'm able to push it out/up(?). My problem is that when I try to remove the tool, the 510 tighten backs down again. Any clues?

Edit: HA NVM ITS ALIVE

the 510 tool comes with a second nut to prevent this. you're supposed to thread the tool on partially with the nut in place on the tool, then hold the tool from turning and tighten the nut to the 510, essentially double nutting it. it's then very tight and you can remove or install the 510 easily, then once it's in place you just hold the tool from turning again and crack the nut loose the opposite way and the tool should then be loose to thread out without affecting the 510 at all.

I'm tentatively planning a 100-110 mile ride for next Wednesday...

To the Canadian border, along a mixture of back roads and closed roads (dirt...cyclists/hikers only...seldom used)...

To a music store to scope out a new bass for the near future...:thumb::thumb:

The forecast says 90 degrees...most northerners will think I'm going to die of heat stroke,

I still got some TN blood though... 90 is nothin' :D

I've been lurking on and off for the better part of the last year, quietly oohing and aahing over every new pic. Beauties, all! Finally, I'm ready to pull the trigger; further resistance is futile. :)
But, which to get?
What are the pros and cons to each of the aluminums and to the ss?
TIA!

Sloth's opinion: SS is best...I'll rank my favorites in order
1) SS. Heavy duty. Doesn't tarnish or patina. Doesn't scratch easily. Looks beautiful and is made of surgical grade SS. Cons: somewhat heavy (a pro, to me since I like a little weight in my mod)
2) Copper. Beautiful metal, prettiest one. Cons: heaviest I believe.
3) Brass. Beautiful metal, gorgeous and looks great with a brass atty on top. Cons: heavy.
4) Aluminum. I don't like aluminum as a material much, myself, but it's very lightweight (as light or lighter than a REO Grand).

Bottom line, you can't go wrong with any of them.

Let me counter that assessment: granted I've only owned aluminum, but I will go through those reasons why.

Brass and copper are gonna be the most conductive but are heavy, soft metals (more prone denting inevitable drops from my fat clumsy fingers) that require maintenance (polishing).

SS is heavy and the least conductive material, but should be the sturdiest and will match atties the best if you're vain like me.

Aluminum is the perfect happy medium. Stronger than brass or copper, but more conductive than SS. Also the lightest by a mile. In terms of what's the best grade aluminum... it's whatever Corey has on hand when you're ready ;)

Good Saturday morning CC peeps. 7075 is prepped for a grueling day of yard work. I had a bunch of tree work done this week and opted to do the cleanup myself to save some bucks (stupid, in hindsight). So I have about eleventy tons of limbs and branches to cut up, move, and burn. The pile in the pic is one of many. *sigh*

But, I know my CC mods are always up for the task. Me? That's another story. Supposed to be 95 here today with humidity to match.

Will this be a stay at home mod or a mod that you carry a lot, and if the latter, how will you carry it? For 3-1/2 decades, I had a pack of smokes in my shirt pocket, so I like to carry my mod there too, especially when driving. IMO, aluminum is the only material light enough to carry that way. If you carry some other way, such as in you pants pocket, weight is much less a factor.

Don't overdo it, my brother! Drink lots of water, and take some breaks!
