What do you guy like to use to clean the silver contacts?
I dunno if this is the proper way to do it, but I just make a couple passes with some 7k grit sandpaper when I notice the black spot.

Thanks Bill, I'm quite pleased with how it turned out :) Took awhile to turn and drill but the outcome was worth it :D

I bet it was a little slow....but...after all it's Titanium ;)
I agree.... outcome was well worth it :thumb:

I use the second item from the following post.

Well, I got these for a couple reasons:

https://www.amazon.com/Micro-Mesh-Assortment-Pack-18-Pieces/dp/B00HJC156U/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1467842945&sr=8-2&keywords=micromesh+pads+12,000+grit

But this is the one that I use most:

https://www.amazon.com/Revell-Monogram-R7046-Micro-Mesh-12000/dp/B002XVRFE8/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1467842945&sr=8-4-fkmr2&keywords=micromesh+pads+12,000+grit

It'll put a mirror finish on the positive contact in (seriously) 5 seconds (okay, if the black spot is big enough, maybe like 12 seconds...). Speaking of which...has anyone else seen their black spot now turn into a white spot?o_O Not sure what caused it, but now I don't get a black spot. It's white...however, I'm now seeing (I think...because it's veeery small) a couple black spots on my battery positives... Could putting such a polished finish on the one surface cause the other surface to exhibit the issue? Also, the white spot seems to go away much easier than the black spot did. Haven't tried to clean the batts though... (veeery tiny)...

Edit: Also, (and I haven't done this yet, but plan to with the next one...) they're a "true" 2" square so there's enough meat there to cut it into 4 squares. The rounds on the 4 corners are useful but 2" is slightly more than needed for contacts and the center of the pad isn't really touched and having a 90° on it could be helpful.

Hey Corey, finally had time to turn up that Ti rod into something useful :D

All Ti Matchy-Matchy :headbang: Thanks again my friend :toast:

Outstanding! Really nice, buddy. :thumb: Most welcome. :toast:

Is maintenance on the Ti the same as aluminum? Just use 3m pads?

Yes, indeed! :)

A coarser pad will yield faster results. You can follow up a maroon pad with a gray pad, for super smooveness. :thumb:

Yep, any high grit paper will do. Also, I know Ross uses metal polish for a mirror finish on his positive contact. :thumb:

So... When is Ross' solid silver mod happening? All other pipe dreams are coming up Millhouse
Probably not until he finds a suitable hunk of sterling to send to Corey. .999 fine is available, but I really think it would be too dang soft.

You could mix it with a little copper and have you a bar poured to approximate dimensions for the mod. It wouldn't be extremely hard....but coin grade hard :w00t:

Melting grannies sterling silver set down now are we?
Honestly, I hadn't thought of that.

Now if I made a the likeness of a CC out paraffin -- just a little bigger in every dimension to leave material to be machined away -- Corey's gotta have some swarf after all-- then poured some plaster around it, let the plaster set, melted out the paraffin...
