Woot!!! :w00t:

Finally!!!

Welcome aboard, good sir. :toast:

You really have to hold the Ti, to fully appreciate the Ti...

Amirite??? :D

Thank YOU, my good man. :thumb:

So awesome! :)
I agree, the Ti really is something special. I had no idea!

Just curious......what's the maintenance on the ti compared to alu?

Hey, YeP! :)

As far as oxidation goes......there should be none. Kin'a like SS in that regard.

As far as scratches and such,.... A good maroon scotch brite, followed by a finer grey should do the job quite nicely. :thumb:
Tho,... I haven't scratched mine yet. It seems pretty scratch resistant. :)

Ross has had Ti longer than anyone. Perhaps he could chime in on the subject? :?:

I am fairly certain, but could be mistaken, that someone did tell us. For months and months....

We would'n listen....

:D

And, of course,....when I say "we"......I mean me...

Better late than never, eh Peng?

The weight of this TiCC is just perfect. A joy to hold and a pleasure to use. Anybody out there trying to decide on one of these should (imho) start a conversation with Corey immediately.

Powerful testimony, right there folks! :thumb:

I don't have any real maintenance problems with my (7075) aluminum one. I'm pretty it's seen more vape/hand time than any of my other CeeCees; I've used it A LOT in the 10 months or so that I've had it. The only real maintenance I've done is one relatively light cleaning. But YMMV 'cause I seem to have a body chemistry that doesn't affect metals in a negative way.

I'm not sure anyone has had a Ti CC long enough to render a meaningful opinion. Ti will patina some, generally to a somewhat gray color. I expect how much and how quickly it does this may depend on the individual user.

If you want the lowest maintenance possible, get SS.

I'm not Ross, but I've had my Ti a month now. The only maintenance I've done (apart from contacts) is a wipe over with a damp cloth. No oxidation at all - just like the SS. It did have fine surface scratches, but that's because I take it everywhere and it gets carried in handbags, mod holders, in the garden, and in the car.

I had maroon and grey Scotch Brites at the ready, so I just gave it a quick rub on each. Surface scratches all gone now :w00t:

I love both the Ti and the SS. Of course, the Ti has a weight advantage, but I find I actually take them both when I go out for the day :D

In view of Rossum's comment which I hadn't seen when I wrote my previous post, I should add ... I find my 6061 Al blackens quite rapidly in my hands (within hours of a scotch-brite/simichrome/renaissance wax polish). I've just learnt to love the "in frequent use" look of the Al :)

That's what I was hoping for when I ordered the Ti, low maintenance similar to the SS. Good to know that it brushes up nicely when needed!

BTW, I should say that I'm basing my expectation that a Ti mod will eventually patina some toward gray on what I've seen in pictures of Ti Zippos. Way back in another life (i.e. before December of 2013) I was trying to find a Ti Zippo and looked at just about every one that came up on fleaBay for quite a while. IIRC, they were only made between 2001 and 2003, so I was looking for something that was 8-10 years old already. Even "NIB" (never handled or filled) ones were somewhat gray, and the ones that were actually used were considerably more so.

But... I suspect Zippos were made of commercially pure Ti (probably grade 1 or grade 2) because I doubt that the 6AL-4V that Corey uses (which is known for good corrosion resistance) would lend itself to being stamped/drawn into the shape of a Zippo case. So the behavior may not be comparable.

FWIW, I never did get a Ti Zippo. Nice ones always went for more than I was willing to pay. o_O
