Ah. North and South language barrier :D
He's got to be pulling your leg.

Supper is way too wide spread in usage.

Lemon Ice Box on the other hand...

Which my daughter, like her grandad now knows and loves under 2 names and after every supper if they could...

"Supper" I am okay with.

Half my family say "Tea"

IMHO, tea is a brewed drink. Often served hot, but also popular chilled.

Why use a reserved word when dinner has its very own title that won't be confused for something else?

Dad made them a lot. Never got his recipe :(
Looked at a few and they didn't seem right. I remember egg, lemon juice and condensed milk in a graham cracker crust. (Just not the proportions :( )
No bake, no meringue, no whipped cream.

If you're ever passing through, stop and get some at the Rose Garden restaurant in Silver Point, Tennessee.

They have the meringue on theirs. But it's to die for.

Hmmm. In one gramma's house, "Ice Box" was the freezer.
In the other, the place you kept food cold was a "Frigidaire". Even though it was a different brand...

breakfast, lunch, dinner. Though supper was interchangeable with dinner, it wasn't typically used...

My father grew up with an actual ice box, so he and his parents generally called it that. Besides "refrigerator pie" doesn't sound right.

The use of a brand name to refer to a generic item is common.
Be it a Skill saw, a Band-Aid, or a Q-Tip.
Often not the originator, just the one that took the mind share.

I'll pass (and have many times).
Meringue means cooked and that's not right.

I spent years finding the right pecan pie recipe, and generally don't eat restaurant versions of that either (nor grocery store versions).

Meringue is simply whipped egg whites.

There's nothing in this pie that defines it as cooked.

Your loss man. Seriously.

People that know me won't pass up any recommendation I make on food.

And this is a strong one.

My father in law is a lemon pie addict. Has eaten one every week for probably the last 50 years.

On a life long search and consume mission.

Says it's among the best he's had in his life.

Suit yourself.

At least check out the reviews on that restaurant.;)

If you call a week ahead of time, they will make you a whole pie or more. I think their cutoff for pies at Thanksgiving is the 10th of November.
