Ceiling started to leak, so Trunker was sent up into the attic to fix it. The lightning storm on the Friday was scary and i thought the power would go out, but it didn't. This isn't my first rodeo - i went thru Ike.

Rainwater was about 3 inches from my backdoor and then the weatherman said we had another 18" to come! It ended up lapping maybe an inch below flooding my place, but i have a car, not a truck with tractor wheels - so i'm at home drinking beer for 2 days - it was terrible! 49" of rain in 5 days will flood anywhere.

Work got flooded out and we are still repairing the damage there. Months i expect.

HRH said we were some of the luckiest peeps around and when you drive around a few other streets here, she's right.

Best of all, a couple HRH and i know were renting a house in an area of Houston prone to flooding, but they were moving anyway, so not too bothered anyhow.

They had decided to retire and i'm sure you can guess where they moved to a week ago.

I hope Classy, Ross, and B are safe.
Looks like it's gonna be a bad weekend to be in (or have property in) Florida. :(
I'll say a prayer for you guys. :nun:
I'm up in PA and my place in FL is buttoned up as well as it can be.

Classy is far enough north and well inland that I think she'll be OK, although looking at the current track, she might get eyed by a Cat 2.

Brian is even further north. It should be no more than a Cat 1 by then and the eye will hopefully pass to his west.

However, I know some people in Cape Coral who did not leave. They're in a shelter as of late this afternoon and not enjoying it at all. Still, probably better than drowning.

My parents are in Ft Myers & brother in Naples. Bro. & his wife both work for the state, so they are obligated to stay & work the shelters.
My parents, on Tuesday, said they were going to ride it out, I urged them to leave hey said it was going to skirt the east coast. I told them that was possible, but the storm is huge and powerful & being that far south they would still get heavy winds & rain, & what if it comes farther west, as Joe .......i has been predicting. They said meh.
Well they called this morning early & said they were leaving. I said no you are not. Told them they should either go to a shelter or button up the condo & hunker down. By this morning traffic was too heavy & gas too scarce to go. Better on their second floor condo with hurricane guards on the windows then stuck on the interstate out of gas. They have several days of food & water, & several of the neighbors stayed. Dad is a retired Doc. so he can help the folks in their retirement complex if needed after.

I am at home.
If you want to Google Earth, I am basically at SR54 (also called Wesley Chapel Blvd) and 75 (West side)
I was ok till tonight's update. I might as well put a Welcome sign on my front door.
Spent the evening moving stuff from the screen room to the garage.
This thing needs to move East fast ! (and poop out fast)

Glad to hear you're up north. :)

I hope C & B check in with us over the course of this thing. Lookin' pretty ugly...

Assuming we still have power, I'll keep checking in. If not, I'll limit posting to Classys Irma thread to conserve phone battery.

We are getting some extreme outer bands now, just kinda windy light rain. The storm looks like it may continue a little further west. My big concern here is power outages and the possibility of tornadoes, I had a couple of limbs that were concerning but they've been removed now.

If she keeps drifting west out over the gulf I'm afraid she won't die down nearly as quickly as she would over land and possibly hit the panhandle as a 3 or 4 after ravaging the west coast all the way up. Did DH get the shutters up Classy?

Work is closed until further notice so I'll have a little time here as long as we have power. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers everyone.

Right now, coffee
