I bought a Big Dripper clone and I only have a MVP2 to fire it with. I have only built 2 setups, 1.2 ohm and 2.0 ohm and both times I really don't get anything from the BD. I have tried everything from 7 watts to 11 watts and really nothing. There is so much airflow I feel like I'm sucking on a straw. I get very little flavor and only exhale a little vapor. My Mini nautilus produces much more flavor and vapor.
So I am wondering, does the MVP2 just not have enough power to make the BD work right? Do I need to go lower with the ohms (which I can't do with the MVP2)?
My coil builds probably aren't the best since I have just started building, though they do look ok compared to pictures I've seen. Oh and I'm wicking with Japanese cotton.
I do want to get a more powerful mod, I just can't make up my mind what I want.

The mvp just isn't strong enough to really heat anything beyond 32 ga

It does quite well with 30 gauge wire. Ten wraps around a 1/16" rod puts me at 2.0 ohms, and it heats up near-instantly at 5 volts or at 11 watts. It's only when you go to 28 gauge or thicker that it starts to have a slow ramp-up.

Hey,

I can share my personal experience with you. And you sure don't need a mech with sub- ohm or much much more powerfull device.

I use single coil 28 gauge at 1.4 ohm in the istick , always at 14 w, flavor is way better than the nautilus, and produce nice vapor.

I tried 30 gauge at 1.7 ohm ( single coil) in my evic (11w max), works fine, better than my nautilus. Only problem is you need about 2 seconds for the coil to start heating, meaning you will need to take 5 -6 seconds puffs.

I guess the deal is to go with single coil with low power devices. I seal the second air hole with duck tape.

About the airflow , if is to much you can close it a bit , you don't need to use it full open.

Align your coil with the air hole, it have to be right on front of the air hole. ( probably your doing this already )

Hope you can make your BD work right for you.
