Bill Godshall Update 2014-06-13

The best weekly compilation of THR news, legislation, science, research and media comment.

Thank you for Posting this Roly.

It is Very Helpful to be able to Point someone to One Place so they can gain Information on the Status of the e-Cigarette Market/Regulations.

Bill G is the world's most active and successful anti-smoking harm campaigner. He is different from the other anti-smokers that you will come across because he wants to reduce the harm to smokers and is prepared to work with them instead of just against them. Almost all other anti-smoking activists want to eliminate both the tobacco companies and smokers, who they see as equally problematic. If all smokers died tomorrow then that would be fine by the tobacco control industry.

There is a difference between anti-smoking and anti-harm campaigners. The latter are much fewer in number, and like Bill, support THR. Anti-smoking activists don't support THR for numerous reasons. Bill is a very good friend to vapers, partly because he is so well-respected at government level, and is widely known as honest and independent. When he supports THR (tobacco harm reduction - ecigs, Snus etc.) then Reps and Senators listen.

He compiles a weekly listing of web resources for those who are fighting unjust regulation / restriction / bans of ecigs, Snus and so on. It is immensely useful to those of us involved in community activism. It is of no use whatsoever to the average vaper as we do the work on your behalf; but if you ever join in the fight to defend your rights, then Bill's THR updates may become of interest. For the core activists in our community, the THRU is invaluable - it probably takes at least 10 hours a week to compile, so it saves the rest of us that workload and it flags up resources we might otherwise have missed.

Vaping activists get the update by email direct from Bill. He is a bit old-fashioned and many of us have been trying to persuade him for years to get a website. On the other hand, it might involve him in legal issues he can do without - so I and others publish it for him.

The E-Cigarette Politics website is my own personal vaping resource centre, where I publish materials for our campaigners that are difficult to find (also for journalists, politicians, pundits, bloggers, medics or anyone else who wants to read materials that are free of the normal tobacco control industry propaganda). I also publish materials that relate to the corruption that drives most anti-ecig obstruction, which hardly anyone else does. I can publish materials there that I cannot here.

So in conclusion Bill's stuff and my website are of no interest to many/most vapers. You'll know if you need it. It's for those who are prepared to fight, instead of lying down and accepting the worthless pittance that some of the most corrupt people on the face of the earth will allow you.

I'm not sure I agree zoiDman.

I thought that Perhaps Bill was in the news! Now I realise that this is just a link to a blog-like site. I think I'll just stick to this site unless anyone can tell me there is any single thing there that's not here.

It isn't to me that One Site is Better than the other. It is that the Link Roly provided is a Condensed version of what Bill has Posted here to the ECF in a Multitude of Market and Regulations Threads.

The ECF is a Fantastic Forum. And the Wealth of Information it contains over the Entire e-Cigarette Spectrum is Staggering.

But the ECF can be Time Consuming to search looking for a Specific Topic or State Legislation. And sometimes one has to Read thru Long Threads to find what one is Looking for.

Having a Single, Condensed Location that a person can go to which is Devoid of the Debate Banter that goes alone with Any Topic can be a Huge Time Saver.

Thanks to Rolygate for posting my weekly THR Updates on his website, and for posting this note informing others.

While many of the documents and articles in my THR Updates are also posted here in ECF (often by me), my THR Updates organize the documents and articles under various categories, and I describe the key points of most cited documents in no more that one or two sentence summaries.

Roly wrote
it probably takes at least 10 hours a week to compile
Unfortunately, it now takes me 30-40 hours each week to search for, obtain, carefully read, analyze, summarize and organize all of the documents/articles in the THR Updates.

My thanks to both Rolygate for his e-cigarette politics website and to Bill G. for his excellent THRU. Every source has its uses. Having Bill G's THRU linkable from Rolygate's website allows me to post it on twitter, giving it wider exposure. (I also regularly forward the THRU email to my local county commissioner, who told me earlier this year she thinks ecigs should be treated just like cigarettes and who since then probably regrets she ever heard of me, lol...)

OK guys, I didn't understand the what or the who it seems; thanks for taking the time to let me know. I shall use Bill's site, as as time passes (over 6 months now!) I find myself not visiting here quite so often, and therefore it will be helpful to have a ordered and condensed reference.

I don't plan on lying down by the way Roly; Currently I'm not talking with the grubby politicians, but I still make an effort to let a lot of others know about the corruption afoot in my part of the world.
