Hello all, billows here.

I've had my 'beginner' ecig/ vape for about a year now. I originally purchased
it to stop smoking cigs/ tobacco yet only recently began using it in earnest. I've
quit the cigs and along the way discovered a fondness for vaping, now I'm looking
to upgrade.

Before making any further purchases, I came here to learn things.

Good idea to learn & ask. The industry has some terrible products and brands. I boycott most of the big franchise brand shops and use independent vendors and Chinese suppliers. If the shop you look at doesn't sell Joyetech, Kanger, Innokin, Aspire etc. you are in danger of buying products for two or three times the 'real' price.

Hi and welcome! Lots of good info to read here before making any purchases (unless it's a rush that your current vape is broken and if you don't replace it today, you're going to smoke). It really helps to figure out what you like and how you vape before spending your money. There's a lot of good hardware out there, but some truly bad stuff too, so use this place to avoid most pitfalls. And ask questions. Plenty of folks around to try and answer them for you.

Wow, thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

This is the 'beginner' unit I am currently using (only mine says PUFF):


Then last week I picked up a tiny $10 unit that
my cart fits on for the times I forget to charge
my PUFF.

Oddly, I like how the smaller unit vapes much better.
While the PUFF has veritable voltage, I find that the 3.8
setting is sufficient. Higher settings cause a burned taste.

Lots to learn... so glad I found this place.

p.s. I am still learning the terminology of vaping
so, please excuse any misuses of said terms.

Moving on to:
The Vaper's Progress

Wow.. did someone read my ecig diary? lol

The "vapers-progress" thread reminded me that I did indeed first try the ecig
that looked like a cig. They were on clearance for $1. The pkg contained 2
cartridges + a charger. I bought 5 + extra carts (also @ $1 each for 5). I also
purchased a bottle of ejuice and refilled. They were gross tasting at best.
3 weeks later, I had not smoked a cigarette so I knew I was on to something
grand (until a buddy came in from out of state and the Jameson's began flowing lol).
Shortly there after I purchased the PUFF unit yet still didn't get serious about quitting
tobacco until 68 days ago.

I am down to 4mg of nic and soon will not be using nicotine. I know I will continue
to vape though. I obviously liked blowing smoke or I would not have done it for
nearly 40 years. Vaping satisfies that without the harmful effects of combustibles.
If I were vaping only to quit the cig habit, I would finish weaning off the nic and give
my ecig to another in need. However, it looks like I am upgrading for a finer vape
experience instead
