black gunk

Ive been off analogs for around two weeks now, and just today i started coughing up huge amounts of black crap. Whats the deal? could it be from the e-cigs, or is it just left over gunk from analogs?

I've read that others have done this too. And I've read that it's the tar buildup being expelled. However, I never have, so far. Wonder why?

Mine was dark yellow, not black... but yeah, about 2-3 weeks in. At some point, you're going to hack up a gob, inhale, and notice that you've got a lot more lung capacity.

Kinda gross, but very, very cool. It'll stop coming up soon.

I've also heard that this happens to a lot of ex-smokers when they quit. Like others have already said, that's all the lovely tar that has been building up in your lungs over the years.

Personally, this hasn't happened to me yet either. Not sure if I'm looking forward to it or not. Sounds pretty gross, LOL. But I have noticed in the month since my last analog that I am breathing MUCH better than I have in years.

Not unless you're vaping a huge amount of black juice that's really thick...

I'd see a doctor if it doesn't stop in another week or two. The important thing is, how do you *feel*? Are you breathing easier? Is it painful?

It's not from your e-cig and not everyone goes through it. Do you have any idea what a smoker's lungs look like? Especially long term, heavy smoker's? Black, tarry lumps of tissue. That's what they look like. Look up "smoker's lungs" on Google and I'll bet you'll find an image. That's what your lungs look like and that's what you're coughing up.

Also, if you are using plain PG juice that can be a bit harsh and does make some people cough or get sore tongue or throat. Very true and another excellent point! Believe it or not, once you quit smoking and stay quit your lungs will heal and become the healthy pink color they're supposed to be.

Ironic that I learned all this in Respiratory Therapy school and most of us were smokers. Somehow the addict in us didn't care.

I googled the smokers lung...why did I do that?! So gross! My goodness. That makes me even more determined to stick with my e-cig!

yea i coughed a load of crap up, about 4-5 weeks into vaping. i also had bleeding gums for a week its all part of the body recovering from the effects of smoking.
