Hi all,

New to forum so posting here, read on it a lot before though. This question may have been on here, I've been googling and searching here though, no luck.

I've had a Magneto (V3 I believe, no 1939 & no spider) for a bit now, my first mod. Anyways on the connectors down at the button (not sure if they are copper or brass?) I always seem to get these black or maybe very dark blue rings on the outer top side of them. I've tried cleaning them off a lot (iso alcohol, vinegar, acetone, boiling, etc.) Nothing seems to work well except sanding them off, which I try to scotch-brite it after to make it smooth, but still seems like people now are saying don't sand them anymore.

If anyone could tell me a better way of these, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'd love to try to get this stuff down instead of buying another one and thus not knowing what I'm doing with that neither. Also, is there a certain word for what this ring is called?

Picture for semi-help, kind of hard to get it shown really well though, sorry:

Thank you for all help and replies :)

Welcome to the forum. It's great you figured out your own problem. It's even better you told us what it is as opposed to just saying fixed it.

They use brass as an accent or for better electrical connections. If they are accents you can let them patina, a nice word for rust, and tell everyone you like it that way or you can keep on cleaning it. It is up to you how you like it to look and how much work you put in.
