Blizzard lays off 600 employees

Blizzard announced today that it will lay off 600 employees.

How will this effect WoW? Starcraft? Diablo? Or the as yet unnamed "next gen MMO" they are working on?

Blizzard says not at all.

Some could be marketing, some could be designers, some could be "environmental" staff....

They likely also had employees working that weren't that good...hard to let someone go when the learning curve is 5 months on a project. Maybe that project or collaboration ended.

I will use my vacation time to go help them finish it! From the press statements its PVP that is holding it back...GRRRRR....PVP just sucks anyway...its just high levels hunting noobs. Give us the dam game already!

From what i was reading on a few forums, the specualtions seem to point to Customer Service employee's got hit the hardest because the new tools they have available help them resolve issues quicker than before. Plus they have multiple offices across the world. I doubt the Irvine,CA office was the only one downsized. Well we have our beloved Diablo 3 release date now anyways and without PVP to boot. Im kinda happy, i dont care for PVP. Although i do tend to delve into it at times in WoW when im really bored of raiding.
