Blood Test for nicotine soon...gahhh

stopped smoking almost a year ago while pregnant. Since having the baby I have had a hard time getting over the craving for a cigarette. I did not want to start again since stopping this last time was very hard. I know if I start smoking I wont stop again. Hence why I tried the e cig and found the right tool for me to no smoke any more. However at an interview today I found out the insurance rates for a non smoker are different from a smokers rate. When I asked about nicotine replacement therapy or the e cig with nicotine they said all nicotine shows up. this test is not indicative of a tobacco user..frustrating. So I'm not wanting to put down my PV. I guess I need to order 0 mg juice and use it till after the lab draw (blood work). How long does it stay in the body and isn't there a metabolite to show the difference between tobacco use and e liquid/nicotine replacement (gum/patch)? Govt just loves to find a way to dip it's hands into every pot....insurance, wanting to regulate e cig use...the list just keeps on. hmpf. thanks for letting me vent. any comments/opinions/ideas?

The typical nicotine test looks for cotinine (a nicotine metabolite) in the urine. 2 to 4 days is typical, up to 3 months is possible. The saliva test is much more sensitive and can detect the amounts of nicotine you would get from passive smoking. Again, 2 to 4 days is typical. But you may get a positive at up to 3 months. You want to increase bile production to increase the rate of excretion. Garlic and raw onions can help. Good luck.

between here and there
Vaping is not smoking. Lots of vegetables have naturally occuring nicotene in them. ie. tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, just to name a few. Tell them your hormones are craving all these vege's and you can't get enough. just kidding. but its true about the nic being in our food.

If you haven't been vaping long, I would try the 0 nic, just until the labs are drawn.

:)
