BLOODY HELL!: Triton Replacement Coils

So I managed to gum up one of the coils in my Triton starter kit tanks and needed a replacement. Since I've only got 2 tanks I decided to bite the bullet and go to my neighborhood vapor shop because he had told me he had Kanger T2 coils and I've read here that they can be used in a Triton. He says, "You know these tend to be kind of expensive" and shows me 5 T2 coils with a price tag of $38:confused:. Since I only have 2 tanks I can't wait a week for the mail so I bit it and bought one for $7.60. Time to search online for a cheaper option. Any good suggestions? Good thing he doesn't stock Halo Triton coils.

Oh boy, don't ever go back to that vape shop if that is what he is charging. Those markups are so insane I would go back there and call him on it.

A 5 pack of t2 coils at fasttech is $3.16. (FT is in in HongKong so shipping is 2-4weeks)

A 5 pack from Kanger (the company that makes the T2's) is $4.00 In wholesale

Discountvapers sells the 5 pack for $6.99 (which isn't that bad)

Like I said, that guy is reaping peoples wallets, I would go there and demand an extra one for the price you paid. Out of despereation, it wasn't a terrible buy, but still man....

Oh wow, I have a 10pack of T2 tanks on route for only $15. Be aware that the T2 heads will work on trition tanks, but the T2 tanks will not fit on the Triton batteries. (Without an adapter, and even then, it will look strange if that matters to you.)

Either way, I recommend Triton coil heads for the trition tanks, they are made for them. But honestly, I can't tell the difference if any, between the two.

T2's come in long wick and short wick also. Obviously Triton heads are all long wicks, but some people swear by cutting their Triton coil wicks stating it can produce better flavor and vapor. If there is truth to that, I couldn't tell you, physics wise it doesn't make much sense besides the distance of wicking travel, but you still have to tip and swirl when it gets low so....

And yeah, don't recommend that place to your friends, or go back there unless he will let you haggle him down 75% or his markup. Maybe his overhead is just that high, but as a vapeshop, he should be buying his stuff at wholesale prices, so that is just crazy. I hope he doesn't sell Halo stuff, I couldn't imagine what he would be charging for a 30ml of Halo juice.

Where is the shop located, maybe there is some strange ecig tax going on there and it isn't his choice but to sell stuff that high. I can't see people's locations from my phone.

He is of the "Head Shop" variety of vapor shops I've mentioned previously. His cigarettes are cheap which is why I had been going there. At the very least he got me into switching, but even his employees are paying $30+ for tanks.

You're in San Francisco -you must have respectable B&Ms there! It's probably not in his best interest to encourage vaping if that's not his main business LOL

That's beyond outrageous.....how long has he been in business? I think I got mine from Discount Vapers - Fastteck have been out of stock forever!

Looking now, they have 1.8, 2.2, 2.4, and 2.8's in stock right now, I can send a link if you want, or you can just search their site for "T2", also I assume you typo'ed but it is fasttech.

I am sure that Kanger T2 coils will work. However, there are many FAKE imitations out there. You will be assured of a high quality coil only if you get them direct from Halo. I can attest that I have never burned up a single coil in almost 8 months of vaping. Some have had their wicks replaced twice already, but the coils themselves still fire up perfectly. Occasional dry burns keep them glowing like new. Yea, the Halo coils cost more, but it's not like they are expensive. In this case, you certainly get what you pay for. Just my opinion......

You would think wouldn't you? Everyone has recommended the Vapor Den which I'm going to try this week. Most of the places are head shop or bubble gum-y type places run by kids who think that if you want tobacco flavor why not just smoke cigarettes.

OK I have to ask this one again. Is there a thread on replacing the wicks? The one coil I tried to dry burn I might have overdone it as the wick was pretty burned in the center and then I wasn't getting hardly anything from a hit off it. Replaced the coil with a T2 and it's fine now. With the old coil I tried dry burning it again and never got the coil to glow again. That was in the tank that I only used Longhorn so that might have been a problem as I'd sometimes let it sit for a day or two before refilling it and the liquid was getting pretty dark in there.

BTW: Just ordered a 5 pack from Discount Vapers for under $10 including shipping.

Just get some 2mm silica wick from eBay. There is a thread regarding wick replacement somewhere. The trick of re-threading the coil wick is to wrap some teflon tape on the end to give it a "lead-in" to prevent fraying. I have done this MANY times. If a coil does not vape well after a dry burn, I suppose that it is shot. This has not happened to me yet but most of my juice is pretty clear, like Torque.

Well seeing as I've got tons of teflon tape sitting around the house from all my plumbing projects the first part is done. Now I just need to find some wicking and maybe a youtube video or two.

Take the new wick, cut the end square and clean with scissors, and take a half inch square of teflon tape and wrap it tightly with half of it hanging over, twisting that to a point. -That end will go through the coil and then you pull that with the wick right on through. Tricky the first few times, but it is very easy once you figure it out. Have fun! :)

I get my Kanger T2 coils from ec blend. They are $5.50 for a 5 pack. I use them in my T2 tanks and in the Triton tanks in a pinch. I do prefer the Halo coils because they seem to last longer but when I am low on funds, that $5.50 looks pretty good. I can't believe what some of tbese B&M's get away with charging.
