HAHA I GOT IT! MY BLU IS NOW USABLE!!!

What i did to get my Blue Useable!

1: I emptied out every single cart that came with it. Thats right, I sat around and dissected each and every cart.

Using a straight bent paper clip i poped out the inner cart. Each cart is protected with a aluminum cap that is meant to be punctured by the atomizer. I used a NEW razor blade to very delicately peel off the capping exposing the filter and the liquid. I then... tossed the filler and liquid.

I had some empty carts i had bought from VaporKing lying around so i took them and poped out the filter from them. That was my new filter! But before i placed that filter into the empty Blu caps i went to step 2!

2: I placed the now empty capsules into a ziploc bag and filled it with water, I then shook the bag and drained the water and repeated this step several times. Once they were soaked i took some vodka and filled the bag just enough make the caps float, I shook it up a bit, and let it sit for about 4-5hours.

3. I drained the vodka from the bad and dumped the caps onto a towel, Using Q-tips i scrubbed and dried the inside of each. I then took my VaporKing filler and inserted it into the caps (Note: I had to trim some of the filler as the Blue caps are smaller than the VaporKing ones)

4. I filled each cap with my favorite e-juice! the small labels on the side of the old Blu cartridges help too (for instance the Classic tobacco {ct on the cartridge} is still my tobacco) I let them sit for a few moment to soak and then added a few more drops to each.

Once they were done I placed the caps back inside the Cartridge and i used the end-cap that comes on the VaporKings as the new end-caps to keep my filters moist :) They are a perfect size.

The Blu Now works PERFECT! But alas my original review will not change. because honestly i wanted it to be like this right out of the box. and sure fixing it only cost me about $10 and about an hour of my time... But thats still too much... my time is precious :)

Questions I got asked when i told friends:

Q: Why not use the old filler?
A: after looking at the filler that they use i noticed a lot of brown specs which looked like dirt, also when the aty breaks the seal it pushes the aluminum into the filter, i didn't like that. Plus some of the flavoring is SOOO strong i felt it was best to just start with fresh filler. BTW I hear that the Tbag mod works GREAT as well.

Q: Why soak the capsules?
A: The flavor actually sticks to the caps. I used water to just wash the first one i tried and it still tasted like bad cherries. So after a good soak in some vodka all the taste went away and i was able to flavor it from scratch.

Q: So is Blu now buyable if you want to totally refill everything?
A: Honestly. I wouldn't buy it but I wont be returning mine either (its a good backup) If you want to go out and have the time to modify the carts then go for it. The $60 isn't half as bad as some of them i've seen. It is defiantly an interesting adventure.

Wow, thanx for the advice guys. This forum is full of a ton of information. I just wish I had the time to read up more here on the forum. Thanks for the prompt responses. So what if I keep the cartridges that i am currently using, just when one of the cartridges runs out, I add a couple drops of "juice" to sort of perk it back up. Is that too simple of a way to do this? Would it work? Work well? I don't mind the Blu flavors so much. The cherry is almost ubearable, but the java, vanilla, and classic tobacco aren't bad at all. I'm not a big fan of menthol, but the other 3 are good.

When I get my liquid, Should I remove the aluminum from the inside of the cartridge and leave the foam or cotton thats in there and just drop the liquid in there? What is the tea bag method?

Lastly, I will be going out of town next week and I was excited to "vap" on the road trip instead of smoking traditionally, but that is no longer the case. I find that these batteries run out SO FAST. As fast as I go thru a cartridge, I go thru a battery. Does anyone have "BLU"s that have a battery that actually lasts a couple cartridges? I charge my batteries 3 to 4 times a day each.

I've tried this, and it works, but it's easy to get too many drops in there because the case is so far down into the cartridge. I started pulling the case out completely to add drops so as to keep from getting juice in my mouth.

I pulled the aluminum off completely to avoid the metallic taste. I would also rinse the filler or add some new. I didn't personally like using the blue foam because it made me nervous when it burned.

I honestly don't have anything good to say about the batteries for the reasons you mention. You might want to check out the model-specific threads because there are some people who really like the Blu and I bet they have good tricks and tips.

Ok, so i talked the wife into letting me go ahead and order a different model than the BLU which for me produces what seems like very little vapor. Its very frustrating. When I read people saying things like "I've got a 510 and it works great", or I've got a JSE 948 and I hate it, I rarely understand. I did catch a video of someone using a 510 with the teabag modification and I saw it produce a ton of vapor so i thought "Ok, if I get to get another vaporizer, I'm going to get a 510", then I found it for like 55 bucks online.

But before I place my order, can somebody please verify that the 510 is a good vaporizer or at least better than the BLU. For that same 60 dollar price range, could I do better? I'm most interested in a reliable vaporizer that produces a lot of vapor without the hit and miss of the BLU. Out of the 20 BLU cartridges that i've used so far, about 5 of them have produced decent vapor (but only for a short amount of time) The other 10-15 start out producing very little vapor. It could be something I'm doing wrong, but I'm not sure. Or maybe the atomizer is malfunctioning somehow. I know very little about these things.

Ok, so should I go ahead and order the 510 starter kit? Could I do better? You guys rock with the prompt responses here thank you so much!

I'm going to have to vote "yes" on the 510 or 808. I have both and am extremely happy with both. My favorite set up is the 510 with cartomizers. I got my 510 kits from cignot.com ($35 for two complete sets) and vaporstation ($45 for three batteries and two atomizers). I have no complaints about either kit. Some people have also used the disposable 510s, which I think are about $10. Can't beat that price.

You might find this thread helpful. Users compare the two: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/69127-kr-808-vs-510-a.html

I have a blu also. I only use the blu when going to public places (mostly bars) due to my other e-cigs causing more issues. With the blue LED light I don't get any dirty looks from people thinking I'm smoking like I do when I use my others with orange LED lights. The packs for charging on the go are terrible and the batteries don't last very long. I also find that using smoke juice (I don't make my own, its purchased) won't work very well with the blu either. I think the batteries are too small to produce the vapor.

I just ordered an alternative e-cig with a blue LED from a chinese manufacturer of my other e-cigs. I am hoping this will replace the blu. The link is as follows: e-cigarette-china.com

I have purchased my other 6 e-cigs from this company and absolutely love them!! I have been vaping for about 6 months now and sometimes with these e-cigs I can actually produce a haze of vapor in the room! Of course that may be part of the problem; with the orange LED and all the vapor = dirty looks! lol

My blu will for sure find its way to the shelf soon!

Do any sellers of the 510 have an overnight shipping option? Yes I'm willing to pay for overnight. I'm now reading about a 910..... Hearing good things about that too. My God this is so damn confusing!

I would assume so, but I've never really looked. After my bad experience with the Blu, I started using the approved supplier forums (ECF Approved Suppliers - E-Cigarette Forum) and the Vapy Awards (Vapy Awards) to make all my purchasing decisions. The longest I've had to wait has been about five days including the weekend, and on average, I've received my stuff in about 3 days, so I've never considered overnight shipping. In fact, most places I've used seem to ship same or next day. I've purchased something from about 2/3 of the stores located in the United States (from the approved suppliers list and/or the reviews), so fast shipping seems to be industry-standard.

Good prices!

Of course that may be part of the problem; with the orange LED and all the vapor = dirty looks! lol
When I first started vaping, in late November, I looked specifically for an e-cig that looked most like a real cig. I started with the E-Volt (garbage) and then moved onto the Blu (not much better). Now I prefer those that look least like a real cig. Go figure. I don't want people to think that I'm actually smoking.

Good luck to you in your quest for the perfect PV. Finding them is as fun as using them. I'm still really new to all of this, but you seem to be where I was a couple of months ago. My best advice is to use the resources on this site. I have not had any bad experiences - none, nada, ziltch - when doing so. The closest I came was with ecigexpress who left out one of my products. However, they resent it immediately and I received the first shipment and the replacement within a week. Cannot complain about that. By comparison, it took me almost four weeks to receive replacement batteries from Blu and now one of my other batteries and the wall charger are not working. Ugh. There are people here who seem to like, and get good mileage from the Blu (Blu Electronic Cigarettes - E-Cigarette Forum) so you may want to ask them how best to use the Blu. I've used my replacement batteries to try out new DIY flavors. It's a limited function, but still a function.

So I just ordered a 510 from cignot.com and told them in an email that i was going out of town on Friday and would like to recieve my product before Friday. Long story short, those guys overnighted my order for me without asking for a dime! What unbelievably awesome customer service! I'm still floored by it! Unbelievable! I will give my comparison between the 510 and the BLU later, once I've had some more time to play with my 510

a friend of mine wanted to try out one of my ecigs and i had just filtered out all the carts that came with my Blu. So i tossed him my blu and let em try it. Well turns out he loved it and actually took it to his brothers wedding where he gave it to his brother. I told em that was cool since i really didn't use it anyway. I told him to toss me $30 and we would call it even. $30 in my pocket to buy some more from V4Life :)

ok, not sure what happened to the message above; it seems to have only posted a third of what I actually typed. Let's try this again.

I have been using blu for a few weeks now and dislike the fact that it is so inconsistent. There are times when I love it and times when it makes me want to break it. I have no issues with the taste or smell (or lack of smell as the case may be) but woul just like it to work more often.

I have smoked Marlboro Reds for most of my life and am looking to replace this entirely with an e-cig at full strength and then gradually lower the strength till I am hitting 0 nicotine. This is the plan ....

I have read good things about 510's but am not sure how readily available the are in the UK or if they come with prefilled cartridges (I don't want to have to fill these things). After much reading I feel that perhaps a 2 piece unit (cartomizer?) would be my best option with a 510. Could someone correct me if i am wrong?

Where would be the best place to buy a 510 in the UK and what else would I need to get with it in terms of modifications, if any, to make the e-smoking experience pleasant? The blu did a good job of making me realise there was a viable replacement for my habit and I guess I am now looking to get a proper e-cig to make the transition complete.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Regards,
=RS=

Just purchased a 510 (Zenith) and will hopefully get it by tomorrow or the day after. I purchased a sampler pack of the companies e-liquid to figure out if they have any flavours I like. I quite liked blu's vanilla so thought I'd give these new ones a try. The company also sell liquid from Johnson Creek which is slightly more expensive and I'm not sure if it's any good or not but will likely give it a try at some stage.

The company did not sell cartomizers so I settled for refilling the cartridges until I can perhaps find a firm that does cartomizers to fit this Zenith 510.

Any UK folks have suggestions on good e-liquids or perhaps places that sell cartomizers for 510's? Any suggestions/advice on what to do when my new purchase arrives?

Regards,
=RS=

I don't think you'll be disappointed with the 510 RSharpe! And I'm glad you decided to go ahead and get some liquid and give refilling a shot. If you haven't seen the "Everything You Ever Wanted To Know about your 510 sticky by Kristin, check it out here.

Refilling is very little trouble and well worth the cost savings, wide selection of flavors, etc. As far as modding the carts I suggest you first try highping's simple cart mod since it doesn't require purchasing anything new, and I'm having great success with it.

Don't have any suggestions to you for UK suppliers and hope you receive a response on that soon. It shouldn't be too hard to find a place with adapters and cartomizers, and then you'll have experience with both. Happy Vaping!

Hi tarheeldan, thanks for the links. Got my 501 today and have been using it and liking it for the most part. Once issue I do have is it seems the filler is getting stuck to the atomizer so when i pull the cart and atomizer apart, the filler is on the atomizer and no longer in the cart. I have a feeling that it may be contributing to the burt taste/smell I am experiencing.

Hm.. this happens to me rarely too - Just make sure that the filler is flush with the top of the cap and there aren't a lot of stray fibers poking out. Might also help to put a drop or two on top - the viscosity of the liquid kinda keeps it as one unit, so it'll all get pushed down to the right place by the atty bridge :) Highping's mod I linked to will help keep the part of the filler touching the atty moist so you should have fewer problems with taste.

I don't think there are any cartomizers made specifically for the 510, but you can find a 510 to kr808d-1 adapter, which will allow you to use kr8 cartomizers with your 510 batteries. Be warned though, it has been found that stock 510 batteries perform at a lower voltage, so the results may not be optimal. You may be better off buying a kr8 kit if you really want to use cartomizers.
