Newbie here. I have already purchased and have been using the No.7 for a few weeks now. I was thinking of purchasing the blu starter kit because it comes with a slew of other stuff for about the same amount of money. A friend of mine liked my No.7 so I was going to give it to him after I purchased the blu.
Has anyone heard any bad things about the blu unit?

dont do it! whatever you do dont buy a blu! go with the joye 510 from FreedomSmokeUSA enter the code 510 when it asks for it and then put 2 flavors and 2 strengths in the comments, they will send u the 510 and 2 30ml bottles of whatever 2 juices you choose, well worth it for 40$ shipped!

its a midweek special that will be gone soon

You will get a zillion million people telling you not to get the blu. I have one, love the convienence, and my attys are the same thing as the 306 (now often used on the mods)

You can also buy blank carts. Go to Volcano. They have slightly better prices, blank carts, and rank much higher on the customer service ladder.

You might also want to check out the blu forum here, and blu and volcano have their own forums. There will be much more information there that isn't 'blu bashing'.
The batteries :censored: the big one... that's a given, but you can use it with a 510 battery, an Ego, or any mod that is fitted for the 510 threads.

Its not bashing so much as some members have had bad experiences and want others not to make the same mistake. It can be costly to keep replacing PV in order to find the one thats right for you. One of the things most people complain about is the battery life - the cig-a-like PV just dont last long at all, and they also dont hold much juice (carts are tiny) I was lucky in finding 'my' PV from the get-go.
But Lenne is right - some people like it a lot and dont have an issue with it after a little tweaking (although I think the carts that come with, flavor wise at least, are a different story lol) - if it works for you then its good - its your dollar :)

my friend chris has a blu and its the reason i didnt start vaping sooner, i had no satisfaction with it, it was horrible, you have to take such a big hit for so little vapor, i barely hit my 510 and i get more than a blu

Thanks Capn ;)

I didn't get my blu straight off the bat, nor did I purchase it from the web company (picked one up in the classifieds, they practically give them away, because people often do scream "run as far and as fast as you can!" lol It's ook. The battery life IS terrible, the carts are teeny, and the flavors are meh. BUT, it's a handy little cig to cart around, the attys ROCK, it's compatible with almost anything Joye (or joye generic), and does anyone really like ANY pre-filled carts?

I guess I believe, if she has her heart set on a blu, who are we to tell her it's wrong? There are redeeming qualities about the blu. Personally, I hate the 808 and there are many many people that love it. :shrugs:

i have the blu and have found it okay but i noticed the foil sometimes gets in the way, so if you have a cartridge that doesn't seem to vape, use a paperclip to push the container out, then remove the foil. also, the batting in the cartridge doesn't seem to wick the ejuice very well sometimes. consequently i replaced this fill with a lipton pyramidal tea bag (search here or youtube for "blu shredded LTB mod" for details), and this works better. the vapor production is okay for a light smoker. it's a fine intro into vaping, but several months in and now i'm looking to upgrade to a 5v juicebox.

I own the blu and I only have good things to say. I'm not an all day vaper, so I could not accurately comment on heavy/extensive use.

I take slow and long drags and I get a wonderful cigarette like throat hit and a decent amount of vapor; battery (not to mention the pcc)/cartridge life has surpassed my expectations; small and light to hold between the fingers; and it's aesthetically appealing. I'm sure there are better e-cigs, but the blu isn't one of the 'bad' ones either. You be the judge. I've noticed that a lot of people enjoy knocking on the blu because of it's popularity with new vapers.

On this forum it's kind of uncomfortable to admit that you like the Blu. Blu bashing is such a sport here that you are just a target if you do. Stock Blu with no advice are not very good for a beginner, but with a fixed cart and good juice they can give any of the other stock devices a run for their money. The starter kit is expensive, but buying the parts is cheap. If I'd had the same reaction to my 801 as Blu users get, I'd have dropped vaping like a hot potato.

On your Blu/Volcano, first thing is to mod the carts with blue foam or tea bags and get some good juice. This will solve the wicking issue that makes you wait so much between puffs. Volcano sells the blank carts but you can refill the pre-filled carts too. I'm currently using Vaporize Nicotine | E Cigarette Starter Kits | E Cig Atomizers Hot Cinnamon Candy juice that I've added about 10% VG. Very tasty and clouds of vapor. The Blu is threaded the same as a Joye 510 so the Blu atty will work on nearly any mod that the Joye 510 works with. My current favorite for my Volcano atty is http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/battery-mods/77007-3-minute-lighter-mod.html.

I prefer the Blu over the Standard 510.

The 510 battery life is not a whole lot better, Blu's PCC makes up for that.
You can store an assembled Ecig in the Blu PCC, can't do that with 510.
510's vapor production (IMHO) isn't really that much better than Blu.
I like the size of Blu, it's more like a real cigarette.
And the size is the cause of all the negativity Blu recieves.

The convenience Blu offers outweighs any performance increase by 510.
IMHO.

Now, I do prefer the Ego/Riva/Tornado better than Blu.
Because it offers something....Battery life.
It eliminates the need for a PCC, therefor negating the main thing I liked about Blu over 510.

So if you're going to break the "it looks/feels like a cigarette" barrier, skip the 510 and go straight to an Ego.

I'm a blu/Volcano/Sidesho/306 (and other Super-Mini) user.

The problem is, new users don't know how to use the Super-Mini Models. I always recommend a 510 (or clone) to new users. Once they learn how to use a PV, they can try a Super-Mini.

I too am a newb here. I'm not even a smoker... My wife is, or was, or something to that effect.

We bought a Blu, and haven't been pleased at all with it. I can get a pretty decent vapor out of it for a few drags, but then it stops performing. She has a harder time than I do at getting a good hit off it at all (she's used to "analogs")...so ironically the non-smoker has had to teach the smoker.

Anywho, Here's my take on the Blu

Battery life - poor
Vapor production - inconsistent, and not very impressive
Atomizer - I'm not sure what it could do much better, as It gets hot....

I think the problem is two fold - Battery, and the carts. On the battery it seems that it produces its best hit when its right off the charger, each drag afterwards is less powerful. On the carts the foil was a bad idea. I'm sure if we were to mod it up we could make it perform reasonably consistently. (we will try refilling carts and dripping once fluid arrives)

I will say that the carts we ordered from Volcano did produce more vapor more times before crapping out (estimating 20 instead of 10)

She only smokes when she drinks, so the PV and all associated bits stays in the kitchen, It seems that if you take a drag or two then put it down for 10 mins and come back it will perform better than if you were trying to smoke the equivalent to a cigarette at a time.

At this point it looks like the Blu will be going back. We have a 510 coming from totally wicked to see if its any better...I know they aren't the cheapest, but she saw the pink...and she likes pink a lot. I also ordered a sampler pack from Awesomevapor.com so we can try dripping/refilling...

We are both still learning, and I've spent about 20 hrs on this forum searching and reading over the past week (I decided I might as well register today).

I actually like the taste of the menthol (which to me is Mint) that came with the Blu, but I can't tolerate much of any of it (I assume its the nicotene that makes me feel jittery). I'd enjoy one of these without nicotene, but that might just be silly....so haven't decided if I'll order me some nicotene free juices.

I am returning my Blu today. It didn't work out for me (inconsistent vapor production, terrible battery life). However, when my RIVA arrived, and I was waiting the 8 hours for it to charge, I added some juice to the cartridges of the Blu and got much better vapor production and consistency. Maybe it is the cartridges that were my biggest problem. The Blu was my first experience with vaping so perhaps my inexperience was part of the problem. Either way, I'm very happy with my RIVA. Good luck with whatever you try.

blue brand in my opinion isnt really that good, but its not bad for the beginner i have a set up i could sell you if interested, i have the charge pack with wire to charge it, 2 battery's ( 1 i have on hand the other i have to find, but there cheap if i cant find it), 3 or 4 WORKING atomizer's, and the usb charger for the battery, same thing the starter kit comes with except the cartridges and the full price.. you could buy the cartridges from them, or go to volcanoecigs.com and buy cartridges from them and they work in blu cig's and the good thing about them is they have different flavors, and you can buy single packs, blu makes you spend 25 dollars on a full carton or whatever.. however i do have a few cartridges for the blu i will throw in if your interested in it, email me at anthony12389@msn.com i can ship it to you and pay me through paypal, money order, cashiers check, or western union. completely up to you.
