Yep.. All foam, but thinner towards the bottom.. Sort of like a long trapezoid shape. Been using the same one for about 5 days without washing it or anything. Every time I pull out, the foam and the cart are completely dry, so Im sucking the juice right out of it. I read about it in the cart mod section and tried a couple different kinds. The foam fish filter sleeves seemed to work the best for me.

No.. I didn't have to, but I am cutting the piece of foam about 1/3 or 1/4 wider than the cartridge. That worked best for me. It compresses the cells a little so it doesn't leak like a sieve. I tried it really loose and it just kinda poured out. I tried it really loose with a poly fill plug, and really loose with a compressed foam plug, but the best was just the single foam pieace cut 1/3 or 1/4 wider than the cart, a litte wider right at the top.

It does but if you remove it and dab it dry with a paper towel or rinse it, the shape comes back. The benefit of the blue foam is less topping off. With the poly-fil I would have to add 3-4 drops. With the blue foam as a filler it's more like 10-15. With the plug mod, I don't even count. It lasts a long time but can be frustrating getting it to work properly. Once you get the hang of it, it gets easier determining the proper size for the liquid you're using.

I'd recommend just using the foam as a filler to begin with.

Thanks for the guidance - I've been doing the same, just replacing normal stuffing with from, but have leakage issues. I wouldn't have thought that much wider would flow (I couldn't get good flow doubling it over.) I'll give it a whirl.

I think I've tried every incarnation of filler there is. I've stopped experimenting because, for me, a 1/4" x 3/4" strip of the blue foam, folded in half and used as a plug in the end of the cart with nothing below it, vapes dry 90% of the time. Nothing you use will work perfectly every time but this works so well that cartidge filler is a non issue for me.

Having tried both, I definitely go with the blue foam.
It is MUCH easier to use than the Pyramid tea bags, just cut it to size and use it.

The trick is to find the right density for your juice.
Too much material and it doesn't wick as well as it coud.
Too little material and it will leak.

When I use Johnson Creek (thin juice) I need to use more material than when I use Nhaler juice.
But as others have said, I always make it thinner at the bottom and wider at the top.

DISCLAIMER: AS GOOD AS IT WORKS, I AM TRYING THE ADM MOD RIGHT NOW

My favorites?

510 carts = Blue foam or scotch-brite (with or without straws).

401 style carts = Only scotch-brite (with or without straws).

Replace the plugs about every 3 or so days.

Every other method that worked was simply too much effort to achieve the same or poorer results than the above.

I've tried the blue foam and scotch brite, with spring, with straws, and PTB mods extensively since day 1 (seems that pretty much all people experiment with cart fillers, since other than the filler, e-cigs are pretty simple and do what they're supposed to do).

The blue foam and scotch-brite are almost equal in acting as a plug (even without a straw or spring).

The PTB is a pain in the ... and if your atty pulls the wad out, it's a freakin messy cleanup.

So I'm assuming that the blue foam wicks very well if your filling up the cart with it.

None of this stuff "wicks" really. It "holds". Try this. Fill up a glass with water to top. Take your piece of foam and dip just the end of it @1/16th or so, in the water and see how far the water 'wicks' up. It doesn't. All you need is a plug at the top so the juice doesn't leak out. Anything else is just taking up space where more juice could be.

I've heard great things about the LTB (or PTB) and the foam plug, so which is the current cart filler king in terms of vapor and flavor?

I never tried the blue foam plug filler so I can't comment. I can comment on the PTB (LTP) and the Scotch Brite Non-scratch Pad with straw (coffee stir stix) mods. I personally found that the PTB didn't give the desired results. The Scotch Brite Non-scratch Pad works great but it isn't my cup of tea :)

I read elsewhere in this forum to use a product, that you can get from Walmart, 100% Polyster Quilting Batt (that is what Walmart carries in Canada). It is very similar to the default filler that comes with pre-filled or blank cartridges from most suppliers.

I continue to use the Scotch Brite Non-scratch Pad with straw (coffee stir stix) mod but instead of the non-scratch pad I am now using a piece of batting as the plug.

Pros:
Very cheap, a roll of 72" x 100" is about $8
Wicking: Excellent
Flavour: Compared to other mods the same if not better
Vapor: Excellent
Throat Hit: Wow!
Leakage: Haven't noticed any
Safe: The filler is washable (like you need to wash it), mildew proof, odourless and non-allergenic

Cons:
You might use more juice but do you want to vape or what?

I do dare say that this filler is  and gets a :thumb:

Whoever made the initial suggestion to use this filler on the forum, thanks very much. Great tip!
