By all accounts, I've heard that Boba's Bounty vapes smoothly with a cool throat hit, and produces great, billowy amounts of vapor. I just picked up my first 18ml bottle the other day, at 12 mg strength, and not only does it produce next to no vapor, but also hits my throat so hard I can barely pull a two-second draw. Anyone else ever heard of this happening? What's going wrong? I love the flavor, but it's just unusable like this.

Are you super duper triple sure you got it from Alien Visions? There's a knockoff company called Alien Vapor that also has a juice called Boba's Bounty, and from what I hear, their juices are horrible. You wouldn't be the first person to get the nasty knockoff by mistake, it's unfortunately very easy to do since the names are so similar and Alien Vapor (the gross knockoff one) actually appears first in a Google search. They are scum of the Earth. Can't make a name for themselves so they have to stoop to duping people and providing an awful product.

It's 100% VG and super thick. It sounds like maybe you're having wicking issues? Being 100% VG it should produce a LOT of vapor. I've never had it so I can't speak to the throat hit or harshness that may be inherent in the juice, but it really does sound like a wicking problem to me. I have the same issues with one of my favorite juices in my Nautilus. It is smooth and gorgeous in everything else, but in the nautilus it is tasteless and harsh.
Maybe try a different delivery system?

Bobas Bounty is well known for having a "peppery kick". When i first started vaping it bothered me. I can vape it now but I am down to 6mg nic. Dunno if it is the lower nic or the fact that I've been vaping a long time now.

But it does have a peppery thing which some like due to throat hit.

YOu might enjoy gorilla juice more, which adds banana, but seems less peppery to me.

It also sounds like your delivery device may not be wicking well either though. You can put a few drops of distilled water into the juice and see if that helps thin it out a bit.

Yeah, switching delivery systems was not a bad idea. I stuck it in a Kayfun Lite clone, and the first couple of hits were not bad (still slightly on the harsh side), but it started getting harsh the further I got. Still not as bad as in the Aero, though.

I also have a ticket in with Alien Visions, so we'll see what they say. I just wanted to know if this was a common experience, with a harsher throat hit than what I'd been expecting.

The issue was definitely the delivery system. This stuff must just be thicker than anything I've used before, despite the fact that I'm almost exclusively using 100% VG or otherwise max VG blends in all my juices. I dripped a couple drops down the Kayfun's tube shortly after making the last post, and the vape immediately went back to smooth and cool. It more or less stayed that way. Over time (every ten vapes or so) it would seem like the flavor would start to taper off a bit, so I'd just drip a drop or two more down the tube. Dripping in a Kayfun Lite...is that even a thing? Certainly the first e-juice I've ever had to do that with. I might just end up mixing a bit of PG in my Boba's bottle just to thin it out a bit. Thanks for the help, all.

Yup yup, I had to do the same with my Nautilus. I had to take the bottom off and reprime the atty every 5 or 6 draws. Very annoying, but it is what it is! Glad you got it worked out. :)
