I bought a 5 pack of boge 2.0 ohm cartomizers. After filling, 2 of the 5 produced an awful smelling burnt tasting plume of 'smoke' and considered them DOA. I immediately removed them and set them aside.

After doing a lot of reading here on the forum and came across mentions of the dry burn technique causing a foul odor/smoke during the process, which as described sounds a lot like what I experienced.

My question is, is there any hope for these? I hate to waste juice so I'm hesitant to try them again.

Never had that problem before and i have used a few of these from a few different vendors

How much juice did you put into it?
What device were you running it on? (and if its VV what voltage?)
where did these come from?

I filled using the condom method (with the spin). I'm using a Riva 510 from Liberty Flights (cartos bought there also). I didn't try the cartos right away so it's too late to sent them back (by a day).

I don't use the condom method on these because I find juice in the center hole can cause airflow restriction...however it should not cause dry foul odors :?:

Are you getting a full ML or 20 drops into the condom and do you find it all transfers into the whick..or at least the majority of it? I know if these things get overly dry they do taste pretty foul but a freshly filled on shouldn't have that problem....

Is this PG or VG juice?

edit: and are you using the condom fill method from the battery end or the mouthpiece end?

The juice I used was 80pg/20vg, and yes, I'm pretty sure the carto was full. I filled from the mouthpiece end and made sure it looked 'slushy' (after the spin). I re-capped them and tried the next day.

I've since ordered 40/60 unflavored to mix with the juices I initially ordered. I upped the vg considerably as I hate the scratchy feeling in the back of my throat, not to mention it makes bad flavor choices vapable. BTW, thanks for your help.

Oh, and I blow them out from the threaded end before using.

Yea I use these with 100% Vg and notice they can look slushy just due to the juice being on the top and this can cause me to think its "full" when in fact it just failed to soak in all the way through....I really don't know whats causing this. The only thing I could suggest is try to fill one up by dripping into the top, with that much PG it should soak in pretty fast, and count the number of drips that are going in making sure you get at least 18 or so then wait a few minutes before vaping. I use a syringe and just fill it up till it looks more than slushy and then pull a tiny bit back out so I know its fully soaked.

I suppose its possible you have a bad batch the last order I got from LF was back in December more recently I have been using madvapes and vaporkings but I have never had a full box of duds or even two duds in a box from any supplier...the worst I have had is a few with tighter draws than I like. Is this a DIY juice or one you ordered from somewhere and does it perform well on an atomizer?

If it is a bad box it may be worth contacting liberty flights even though they have a DOA policy with these just to let them know.

I just threw a box away. Every one of them took VERY little to fill and the taste was terrible right out of the gate. I filled them with my favorite juice. It wasn't worth risking more of my good juice so I tossed them. It was the only box I ever had that wasn't good so I just chalked it up to . . . "oh, well" :(

Do you have the new, true 3,7v SE Rivas from LF? If you do, they may be running a bit too hot for your 2.0Ω Boge cartos. I love them on my 3.2v eGos, however. Haven't tried them on the SE Rivas.

As for refilling, I'm with Golden. I do not use the plunger method and I never spin. Overfilled cartos are just as bad as the underfilled one. You need nice and free airflow through the cartomizer. I fill mine, for the first time, with a syringe and an 18g needle, making sure to saturate the filler thoroughly. I then let them sit for about an hour. If they still seem dryish, I drip a few more drops into the filler. And I measure my eliquid--just a little over 1 ml for the first fill. I top often early and I top off often.

See if this method works better for you.

Coold be a flavor issue/choice.
I'm having good luck with them so far even on 808D-1 batteries (a true 3.7v). I commonly am using a 510 battery, however.
I use the drip method, and I got far more than 20 drops in em. First one I ever tried only had 20 drops, and I started too early after fill. It burnt bad. I dissected it, and the coil was cooked so bad the batting was welded (melted) to it. Second on I filled and it took 40 drops when I let it sit and tapped it up 10 drops at a time. At first site(20 drops), it looked tapped up, but when I came back and checked 10 minutes later it looked dry again,,,,I kept adding. I was actually shocked at how much it held and I didn't flood it.

Don't tell me that! I just got in an order of 100 of them. lol

Actually it won't really bother me if I do come across some DOA's as my DIY juice is cheap enough I don't worry about wasting some. Not to mention I haven't had anything arrive DOA in 16 months of vaping. Hey! I finally found something I have good luck with! Yay me!! lol

I dont know about LR but I have a standard ones. First one I tried is burned down after a few puffs. Second one stopped to produce any vapor and just started getting hot after less than a day of very moderate vapping. I tried to use it for a dripping but got a very bad burned metal taste. Third one produce a very little vapor and was very hard to inhale. I tried to use different juices, cleaning, etc. and no help. I even bought a new 510 batts thinking maybe it's a compatibility issue with eGO and KR808D batts. So, I just don't use them any more.

I've had that happen before it was just a bad carto. You can usually spot them while filling the first time. If it doesn't take a full condom your pretty much looking at a bad carto ! Usually you get half way through the condom think everything is ok then the first hit is like a 911 fire! I just toss it and try another. I've tried adding more juice and it just doesn't work. Once its burnt like that you never get rid of the taste.
