Carto Red hot right out of the package

Hope you all can help with this issue:

I just got my first box mod kit today from Madvapes (loving it so far). Part of the kit was a package of 510 2.0 cartomizers. Now I have been using Boge 2.0 for a couple months with no problems, so I don't think this is a problem with something I'm doing.
Anyway, filled one up pretty good, let sit for a couple hours as I was busy doing other things, came back to it, topped off and put it on the mod. Immediate BAD burnt taste, WTF? So I take off the drip tip and hit the button and this sucker is RED HOT inside, like instantly. I mean literally fire orange when you look down the hole. Of course I threw it away but now I'm hesitant to waste more juice on another one. Do you think it's just a fluke? Should I do something different next time? I've put several of my other cartos on and they vape perfectly, when I look down in them there is no "light" at all when pressing the button.
Any advice would be appreciated.

what mod is it? what is the voltage of the battery?

It just said 510 box mod. Uses one 14500 V battery. I went ahead and used another carto from the box and it works normally. Must be a defective carto.

Yeah, just a fluke. Had a bauway 1.9 carto a few months ago that I could have roasted a marshmallow over

To eliminate waste it would be a good idea to mesure resistance of your atty/carto and specifically cartos before first use.

The glowing carto might be a cause of very low resistance, i.e. manufacture's defect.
