So I ordered a few different carto tanks to see how I liked them. The plan was to get all the same length tanks, to minimize the types of cartos I'd need to keep in hand. Well, I accidentally ordered a standard length udct instead of 45 mm. The selection of punched/slotted 35mm flanged cartos is limited.

Can I use a non flanged carto in the udct? Is the locking base narrow enough to actually lock the non flanged cartos?

I use standard length cartos all the time in my tanks. But I have never used a tank that locks in the cartos. If the o-ring isn't correct the carto can turn so you need to watch what you are doing. The standard length will be too short to work in a tank that is is not meant to fit. vise-versa, if you have a standard sized tank, the longer 45mm will stick out at the end and the hole for the juice will be on the outside, having no way for juice to reach it. You can always punch them yourself like I do. Plenty of cartomizer punches on the market. They sound expensive but when used over and over they become very cost effective.

It won't lock with non-flanged cartos, but the friction from the O-rings in contact with the cartomizer and tank will provide enough friction to tighten. Just get a skirt/collar/plinth..whatever, and you'll be fine.

Thanks for that answer. Exactly the info I was looking for.
