Went to my local vape shop because I was in a rush for some Kanthal A1.

I asked him for 28g but he was unsure they had any Kanthal at all, He went in the back of the shop and found a small roll of unlabeled Kanthal and told me "it's either 24g or 26g, i'm not sure"

Wel.. I'm not sure of the gauge either, What do I do? I need a coil asap lol..

Measure the ohms per centimetre.

that's more important than the thickness because you don't know if it's kanthal either; might be nichrome (one can order 'kanthal' from fasttech which they boast as "Authentic Kantahl A1 Nichorme Resistance wire".)

To save money, try Temco for Kanthal.

Why would you hand twist a coil, and measure ohms that way.... There is so much unknown and variability in that you still can't know what you have. My 6 wraps may be longer or shorter than your 6 wraps just due the the tension applied.

The only way to KNOW is to measure the wire with a ohm meter. Once you KNOW the resistance of the wire you will be able to the type and grade and gauge of that wire. Diameter will only tell you the gauge, not the resistance, unless you know the grade and type. A built coil will get you part way there, but only if that coil is PERFECT.
