So I'm very new to the e cigarette market. I shot on eBay a lot and I get a little confused. Such as the ego series batteries. joyetech has a ego t, then there's all these other ego ts are they all the same? What's the original? Same for the MT3 tanks. There's kanger mt3s which seem to have a rough grip bottom and then there's the evod mt3s which have a solid bottom.

eGo is a thread type/style of battery. There are numerous manufacturers of this style of battery. Some are ok and some aren't worth it. I am sure you will get more info from the more seasoned vets out there. I would like to extend a welcome to ECF and you are in the right place for information and help with just about anything! Welcome again!

"Ego" is a class of battery, not a brand name. I believe Joytech made the first ones, or at least they became the most popular. Joytech, Vision, and Evod all make a consistant quality eGO battery. Anything else is likely a clone if it doesn't list those brand names. Ego T or C are just different model types of eGo batteries. Twists or Spinners are variable voltage eGo's.

The tanks are made by several manufacturers, and all have specific model names. Aspire makes CE5's and vivi nova tanks, Innokin makes the iclear 16 and 30; Kanger makes the protanks, evods, and T3s, Smoktech makes a pyrex vivi nova, pyrex BCC, and pyrex Aro; Vision makes the original vivi nova and a line of clearomizers. No brand name listed means it likely is a clone tank. The quality of any given clone will be hit or miss.

Ego is more commonly used as a threading type where your battery will be the male end but will include some internal 510 threading for some other more commonly used atomizers/toppers. What you will want to look for is the size of the battery inside. This will be marked as MAH. The higher the number, the longer the battery should last. I would recommend getting at least two batteries with your original set up so you have one to use while the other is charging. Don't get discouraged by what might seem like endless variations of the same thing. I have no problem recommending staring simple and moving on to more advanced gear as your comfort level rises. Just don't hesitate to ask questions. And there is a good chance a lot of your questions have been asked by most of us starting out. And are on this forum already waiting for you..
Good luck and welcome to ECF

I'm a big proponent of this kit for newbs. If you're looking to by a starter kit, don't know where to start, and are confused by all the options, this kit will cover EVERY recommendation that you're going to get here.

- Kanger EVOD ego battery
- variable voltage (you'll want this option soon enough, why not just start with it)
- KANGER Pyrex tanks
- extra coil heads
- A backup battery
- a quality wall charger
- bonus 510 bridge less dripping atomizer for tasting different liquids before committing to a tank full

The price is right too. The steammonkey silverback kit:

Joyetech would be the original eGo.

The eGo type batteries became a standard.

Kangertech makes the mt3s as well as the evods;
