Brand New Manual Battery Flashing

Hi Guys,

So I just got my first e-cig yesterday...fantastic! But...first bit of trouble. I charged both batteries before using them. Waited til the wall charger turned green. One of my batteries started flashing and not letting me take any drags....or I was taking drags and getting nothing. I looked at it - it's flashing. Now, I had only been using the battery for a few minutes.... I threw it back into the wall charger...it started flashing again....then stopped. The wall charger is at green.... Any ideas? Because....ummm...I am really new at this - I haven't a clue. Thanks!

Sounds like it's just dead.. Sometimes the wall charger will turn green for a few minutes when the battery is dead. I suggest putting it on the wall charger for 8 hours or so and see if it's better.

There's a reason for the wall charger turning green on a dead battery, but it's technical... It doesn't mean the charger is defective either. I'd explain, but probably get shot for discussing circuitry here.

Hi Vermonter.

A new battery should come with a charge, so you should be able to vape it right out of the box.

When the battery needs charging, it will flash 12-15 times or so.

When you put the battery on the charger, it should flash 5 times or so.

Just so I can understand the dilemma, when you vape, nothing happens except the battery flashing?

And is the other battery working properly?

There are some trouble shooting methods you can use for the battery.

Often, a decrease in performance (including ability to charge and function properly) is a sign that the battery connection point is blocked. First, take a pin and clean any debris out of the holes in the battery. Then, dip a q-tip in rubbing alcohol and swab the  connection point. It’s best to do this weekly for all batteries. Let me know if this helps. About half of the time, this is the issue.

Maybe it's cold and sick? If you put it in the oven for awhile or leave it in the sun maybe the poor thing will warm up and feel better!

Possibly it is sick....

When I first got the batteries - I put them on the charger for like a minute til it turned green. Yep...didn't really need any charging. I was using this battery and vaping fine....then it just stopped and I was like...hmmmm, maybe now I'm vaping wrong? I tried it again...no crackling or anything. I checked the light to see if it was working when I was pressing it....and it was just flashing....nothing else happening. I'll try the suggestions you mentioned. The other battery is fine I guess.... But I haven't used it very much since I got it, just a little last night and then this afternoon.... Just checking to see if anyone else had this kind of mystery happen.

I guess I'll go throw it in the oven to warm it up...the air conditioning is on in the house right now...

Hmmm...one other thing. I was using a brand new cart and it wasn't producing much vapor as opposed to the one on the USB passthrough...figured it was the cart....got a little warmer it seemed than usual. Eventually it started producing at least some decent vapor....and then that's when the battery stopped working. I just took the battery and put it on another cart....producing lots of vapor. Do you think that maybe it is the cart itself? I'll switch it around again...or put another new one of the same flavor and see. Now...I'm answering myself....ok....

Sometimes it takes a little while for a new cart to wake up. They get a little sleepy if not used before.

I have a new platinum XL manual battery that does this same thing when trying to charge it. I have four v4l chargers - two a bit older with no logo, and two newer with a logo. Funny thing is that the battery charges fine on the older chargers, but not the new ones.

This battery also seems to be threaded differently from the others where the carto screws on, which I believe may be the cause. In your case, I would definitely seek a replacement if you are not able to charge this battery with your current charger.

Yeah - that's what I thought with the new cart....like it is taking a little bit to wake up. Tried a different one of the same flavor and it seemed to do fine.... I guess I'll just keep playing with it for a little bit. I go out of town tomorrow and I only started with two batteries....ummm...may be a little tight for a few days. We'll see what happens. I'm going to try that cart on the other battery and see if that's it for some odd reason.

I just had a chocolate cart stay sleepy for a long, long time.. I ended up feeding it a little more juice and gave it a fun whirl and it was much better!

You all are having way too much fun with this ....who brought up the unicorn in the first place? That's what started it....then the whole oven thing....if I try it and my house burns down...I'm comin' after the Uni!

The battery did ok all this evening. I think it might be the cart....it was kind of making gurgle noises, not the normal crackling....and it was heating up rather quickly. I had another cart on it and it did fine. I'll deal with it when I get back from my trip. I can't believe Vapor4life shipped out my order already...darnnit....going to be gone.... Guess the petsitter will have fun with it!
