Trying to see if it is user error, or I need to contact the vendor about my device. I just got a new SID in the mail today. I put a Davide tank on it with a 2.5 coil, and put a fresh charged 18650 2kmah Efest V1 battery in. The single button menu thing is a little odd, but I can get used to that. I knew that going in, as well as the extremely tight fit for the battery.

I find while taking a drag, it stops firing and when I look at the display it has jumped to wattage up or wattage down. This doesn't seem normal to me. My understanding, unless I hit the button multiple times it should not go into a setting menu. The device also seems to fire for almost a full second after I release the button. As well, it takes almost a full second to fire when initially pushing the button. The initial push I can understand. It's not ideal, but at this price point of a device it can be understood.

I have also noticed the LCD screen seems to have a line across the top of the display sometimes. This is not constant, but comparing to my Vamo V5, and my Itazte VTR, again this does not seem normal. Are these just quirks of the inexpensive device, or should I be contacting the vendor for a replacement?

EDIT: I have went back to using my other MODS until I get some experienced input.

If you accidentally double-click the button, it will run away with you. At first, I thought I was rocking the button, but by carefully paying attention to what I was doing, I discovered that I was pressing too lightly and the button would fire double and start upping the power.

The line on the screen, though... Should not get that.
It could be that there is a short in the display that is double clicking the power for you.

I still have and use my SID which was my first step up from the Ego. As for the firing after releasing the button, mine has never done that as far as I know but using a higher ohm coil like the 2.5 it might be the residual heat in the coil itself. What indication are you getting that it's still firing?? Is it sizzle from the coil, something on the display etc. I know that my carto will still make sound even after I release the button on my mechanical.

Now about it changing to watts setting, that used to happen to me a lot because I would take 3 hits too close together. I don't know the amount of time required between clicks before the device stops counting them but from my experience it seems a pretty long duration the SID counts. I have accidentally run the wattage way up because I was chain vaping.

It's noise on the after fire from my Davide. The display seems to turn off pretty fast. I think ya'll are right about the button and being my user error. I will try to use it the rest of the night and see if these annoyances persist or work themselves out. Thanks for the input. I just didn't want to hear about it sticking and causing a current draw to increase amps and have a battery vent in my hand.

Update on the issue's mentioned above. I have worked out the button thing. Was total user error, and after last night I have worked that out. I was just not using it right. LoL. That sounds like i'm an idiot... Cab't even use a device with one button... LoL.

Anywho, the display issue seems to be correcting itself as well. It is no where near as prominent as it was when I first started using the device, but now I always look for it so I can still tell it's there. I guess next step would be to contact the vendor about a replacement? I got the device on a clearance sale plus a coupon for even more of a discount. Anyone have experiance trying to get a replacement under these conditions or with the vendor? It was purchased through these guys.

My girlfriend is having the same issue with her SID, it's not user error. I think it is a lose connection somewhere.
I just gave her my eVic for now, i'm back using my 6v prodigy (I missed that thing, lol)

The screen issue or the button issue? I resolved the button problem. I was fiddling my finger instead of holding it solid. I like to pulse the firing, and can't do that on a single button setup. I resolved that problem by just holding the button as i draw. The screen issue is different.

I have also sent an email off to the vendor. It's not been a full 24 hours yet, so we will see how their customer service is. I'll let ya'll know how it pans out. Hope I don't have to pay for two way shipping. That would have negated the entire point of getting the device on sale.

The unit will just turn off or reset, this also resets the volts to default, sometimes it will not fire at all.
I was just looking at it, if you turn the head threads just a little (like 0.001") it will reset or turn off.
I have cleaned everything, expanded the bottom spring, but it still does the same thing.
It is not a button issue, I have held it down firm with no toggling.

Thanks

Update, for those who wondered. No Response to email, so I contacted via Live Chat this afternoon. The rep I got was great. Did the normal troubleshoot to make sure I was not using a protected battery, and that I had tried a different battery if I could to make sure it wasn't that. After just a few minutes and verifying my order and personal information he emailed me an rma form. So now as soon as I put the old one in the mail, and email them a tracking number, they will ship out a new device to me.

Pretty good customer service IMO. Especially since I got the device on clearance, plus a 40% off discount code. I have to pay for the return shipping with tracking, but that's only like $5 tops.

Original shipped purchase price of $26.22 +$5.00 for return shipping = Still ahead from full retail price.

Yes, that's great customer service.
I haven't looked at my GF's SID yet, she's happy with the eVic, i'm good with my trusty old Prodigy.
But I came up with an idea. I am going to take the PCB from the SID and make a mod.
The mod will be a wii remote, fire buttons will be A and B buttons. I would like to include a usb charger also (not sure if the SID's PCB can accommodate this).

Pointers and comments are welcome.

I will start a thread in the modding forum when I start.

I cant wait to get started, lol
although it may be 2 weeks, hell of a work load I have (40 iPads and other things to repair, then 40 more iPads when i'm done with them)

I will post pics (I have a digital microscope also, so can take super close pics)

Glad to hear you've got it worked out, and good job finding a great deal!
I just picked up my Sid for 45 and thought THAT was good!
Mine "turns off" occasionally. Screen goes black, doesn't fire. Removing and replacing the battery fixes it.
Pulsing the button shouldn't be necessary with the pulse width modulation, right?

Interesting... I heard pulsing the button keeps the rubber insulator on the pro tank heads from melting. I give it a 3 or 4 second push, then let off for the same interval. I repeat until the coil glows evenly a few times. Am I screwing it up?

Edit: sorry, was talking about cleaning heads on another thread.. Got turned around here.. Oops! But still.. Thoughts?
