Hello all! My 510 (from DealExtreme so probably a clone) should be arriving in about a week and I was hoping some of the vets could recommend an ideal E-juice to try as a pack a day smoker of American Spirit.

The two I regularly smoke are the ultra lights (formerly yellow and white pack which is now orange) and the organic lights (light brown pack).

Any suggestions would be much appreciated as far as specific flavors to try as well as nic. content given my current smoking habits.

Also would love any recommendations for must have accessories. My starter kit comes with:

- 1 Manual
- 1 Automatic
- 5 pre-filled carts
- Ac adapter
- 150mAh li-ion battery
- manual

Thanks in advance!

I think recommending a juice is one of the hardest things ever. I'm not familiar with those brands but Vaporite, Backwoods Brew, Vapor Station, Halo are recommended a lot for tobacco juices. But if you ask 100 people here, you'll get 100 different answers. You may even find you don't like tobacco juice when you start vaping. No juice is actually going to taste like a cigarette.

Usually the juice that comes with kits is pretty bad so I'd order some juice now. Even some sample bottles in varying nicotine strengths. You want to have it high enough to prevent you from smoking but not too high. I think 12 to 18 is usually recommended for light cigarette smokers.

Thanks so much for the reply!

Definitely understand how subjective the juice preference thing is, and I have indeed heard how bad the included samples can be, which is why I was fielding input now. Plan on having at least a variety of samples here by the time the kit arrives.

Mainly I'm hoping to hear from those that may have transitioned from the same cigs I'm used to as far as juice/flavor suggestions.

Looks as though all of the FSUS samples are 24mg which may be a bit high since I'm used to lights. :(

And of course, the question about must have accessories to consider would be something that anyone with a 510 could offer insight on.

Someone here that was an American Spirit smoker will offer a suggestion, I'm sure.

I would definitely definitely get some cartomizers. They hold 2x as much juice and they aren't as messy to fill as the cartridge. You can use your cartridge to test juice because you can wash it out.

Does you kit come with any empty cartridges at all? You have three batteries, correct? You need at least three, maybe another one if you can swing it, and a pcc is a great thing to have. You can pick one up for about $15-$20. Do you use the computer a lot? You could get a pass thru.

You should have at least 30 ml of juice to get you started.

Good luck! Someone will be along to offer you juice suggestions.

I agree with swedishfish, it's hard to recommend liquids that you might like. I strongly agree with Woman of Heart that you should start out with 24mg strength liquid if you want to have success making the transition. You can always lower it but you can't make it stronger.

I think you won't be happy with the battery life on a standard 510 PV. Pack a day smoker, you will be getting an hour or little more before needing to change batteries. That gets old for most. An ego/Riva 510 would give you about 4-5 hours on a battery charge. The vast majority prefer manual batteries over auto batteries.

I smoked Marlboro lights and have found that Liberty Flights, (PG version) 24mg "Home Counties" eliquid is a smooth tobacco flavor. His shipping is good ($3) and he has 5ml sample sizes for $2.39 after the 20% discount.

If you decide to stay with the 510 for awhile....get a PCC(Personal Charging Case) it will charge your batteries a few times apiece before needing a recharge itself. You can also store full cartridges inside it, can never have enough carts with you :)

To be honest it's hard to tell you what mg nicotine you'll need. Experiment with the kit's varied strength cartridges.

GL to you Nu

FreedomSmokeUSA has an American Spirit (or American Spirits) liquid. If the PG/VG is selectable try 70pg/30vg or 80pg/20vg if you are using cartos or tanks? Else whatever you want. ultralight is just the nicotine level which also controls the harshness. Try 10-12mg IMO. I was a lights smoker and started on 16-18mg but I used to smoke ultralights before the lights (until they got to $64/carton)

What are the best cartomizers which can be used with the 510/eGo/Riva threading? If I do invest in an eGo battery, do I need to also get one of the cones I see listed on accessories pages? All I know how to use at this point is the 510 manual and automatic that came in my original kit. So apart from battery life I don't know how the others compare, or any additional equipment I'd need.

The cone isn't VITAL to the operation of it. I like it because it makes it look good. For $20 you can get an eGo passthru from Libery Flights (6 month warranty -- they honored mine at 5 or so months and sent me a replacement with a return label once i got in touch via email) with the cone -- I like this because you can vape while you charge! When you d/c it from the usb, there's even a shiny little cab to cover the female port on the end of the battery and it'll work just like any other! Anyway, you can try one battery instead of investing in 2, and worst case scenario, you have a glorified PT!

You can keep your 510 atomizers for this. I prefer Boge cartomizers. Monday I am expecting a shipment of Boge LR and LR Dual Coil cartos, I'll try to post once I have a good feel for them! :)

And as for juice.. I didn't smoke your brand.. but I really enjoy Backwood Brew's tobacco flavors -- extracted from tobacco itself. Worth a shot, I love the stuff.

Freedomsmokeusa offers American Spirit liquid. I have a bottle and like it but don't love it. This is going to be the hardest part of your journey with your new ecigs, finding the right juice. I would suggest getting 18-24mg strength to start with. It might seem high to you but you may find that you need it. Get some of both so that you can try them out.

Here is a list of vendors that offer samplers but I'm sure I've missed some along the way:

I was just looking at some dual coil boge cartomizers which sound great, but it said they were not compatible with the 510/Riva/eGo. Can you post a link to the dual coil boge cartos that will work with the 510/eGo?

Starting out at 10-12mg nicotine strength is likely a receipe for frustration and returning to cigarettes. You can always lower the nic strength of your liquid but you cannot make it stronger. There is little to no relation between what you smoke and what level of nicotine you will initially need. I strongly recommend getting some 24 and 18mg to start and then adjust from there.

I have Boge and Boge LR cartos, and dual coils on the way .. among other goodies.. :)

I grabbed a five pack of these (they are LR -- 650mAh battery.. at the smallest)
Low Resistance 510 Dual Coil Jumbo Blank Cartomizers

I grabbed a couple clear ones (they are sold individually):
510 blank CLEAR cartomizers

510 cartos galore:
Cartomizers

Okay, just bought a bunch of high nic juice from BackwoodsBrew and ordering more from Alien Visions tonight.

Ready to buy another manual battery and cartos. The dual coils you linked to above look great. Have you received them yet? What did you think?

I also noticed they come in a choice of 1.5 or 2ohm, what is the difference and what would you recommend?

You noted a minimum of 650mAh battery for these, so would the eGo battery mate well with these then? I think I need to get a "cone" with that battery too? Lastly will the eGo charge with the standard 510 wall charger I have, or do I need to invest in a eGo specific charger as well?

Thanks again to all for your help and insights, there are SO many options I'm obviously pretty overwhelmed!

hey NuMystic..... I was smoking AS celadons ( the mint green mediums) I found the ones you smoke to be to much like breathing normal air }:)> I just started vaping the other day and the juice Im on is actually quite like the AS's I smoked... it is 18mg "american gold tobacco" flavor from global smoke. I figure you might want to go with the 12mg or 6mg or something though as like I said your grits, to me, are like smokin' air }:)>

Well then I may be in for a head rush as all the juice I've ordered thus far is 24mg!

If it's too much I suppose I can always mix it down with bulk VG/PG.

Though from what everyone else has said ideal nic content sounds like it's more a matter of how many cigs you smoked a day, whereas the "felt like smoking air" is a matter of throat hit. (which is provided by more than just nic content in the juice… higher PG means more throat hit right, amongst other things?)

Thus far the pre-filled carts that came with my 510 definitely have less throat hit than the AS Lights I'm still smoking. Can't wait to buy my last pack once the juice and new hardware gets here!

I smoked about a pack to a pack and a half of Ultra Lights a day. I started with 18mg and still had the urge to smoke, so I bumped it to 24mg for a while. I used to switch between the two nic levels using the higher one for when I was at work or running around. I have finally moved down to 18mg.

Don't base you're nic level on what you smoke or how much. There are folks here who only smoke half a pack and need 24mg. There are others who smoked full flavor like chimneys and can't vape above 16 or 18mg.
