The Volt is ok but it is an 808 threaded device so it won't be compatible down the road if you upgrade (which is ok if you want a small stick battery) make sure you get at least 2 batteries because of their small size they do need to be recharged more frequently than the larger ego style batteries

get the Nano clearomizer with it (actually order 3+ because you will want backups) you can see your eliquid levels in these and will know when it needs to be topped off - cartomizers are solid and if you run them dry and get a burned taste you will need to replace it

Here is my recommended starter set for people serious about switching

Kanger Mini Protank 2 Starter Kit -VV

it gives you 2 high quality VV (variable voltage) batteries (which will allow you to dial in the correct voltage for flavor, throat hit, and vapor production - all important in switching successfully) and glass clearomizers which will bhe compatible with any eliquid out there (some flavors will "crack" plastic clearomizers)

hope this helps

and welcome to the ECF

Welcome to the ECF my friend, and I concur, this looks like a great beginning set-up. I still use mine to this day for the portability and dependability of the set-up.

My friend welcome. I will tell about devices afterwards. (I wish you see me in public places with my evic and vivi nova enormous you should call but trouble free. What should they think? Hell I dont mind I tell you my device is trouble free)

But if you think you buy some device and go ahead think again my friend. Most important factor is liquid.
- It has to be your liking
- You should try one hell of a lot to find what is apropriate for you
- You should try VG/PG rates and what they give vapings
- Nicotine level (This is most important I would suggest higher level and add VG (be sure it is vegetable glycerine) to dilute to your liking)

Lets assume you found. than it will work with any device but thinking device you have to have back ups (and back ups of back ups) so one should buy a system which can work with other devices (I mean batteries with clearomisers and cartomisers and vice versa)

Dont be shy and buy an ego type beginner set. when you think expanding they will be useful. Most of us began with ego types or converted to ego types after we tried others.
Whatever you decide be sure to learn how to change atomisers how to clean them and what is a dry burn. (In forum and youtube)

Well welcome on board be sure you will be supported as long as you vape and have problems we are here to help you
Happy vapings

I think that I got a little intimidated with all of the new vocab I've been having to learn.

I was looking for a sticky post or a blog to refer you to but the only ones I've found have been rather old. I guess I'll just give you the basic run down myself.

Threading? Numbers?
Numbers like 510, 808 or words like eGo refer to the spiral threads (like whats on a screw) that you screw into/onto your battery (a.k.a. mod). Most modern mods and the devices that fit them and get the most chatter on here are 510 and eGo threaded. Some batteries (a.k.a. mods) have both. How did that happen? Think about a hollow metal tube. Some have threading on the inside of the hollow metal tube and on the outside so you can use an attachment (topper/atomizer same thing) of your choice.

Mizers?
They are all atomizers but different names are used to give an exact representation of what they are.
An atomizer heats the liquid and turns it into steam/vapor. When someone "drips" they are putting a few drops directly into an atomizer designed just for "dripping." Other atomizers have been named different things for the way they hold liquid or vaporize the liquid.
Clearomizers/Glassomizers are the same thing except some people get fancy and call them glassomizers when they are made of ... you guessed it, glass. This glass or plastic "tank" that holds the liquid is transparent and is where the name clearomizer comes from. Clearomizers have a "wick" inside of them wrapped in a metal wire ("coil") that the battery heats to make vapor and is not to be confused with a
Cartomizer- a "tank" that holds liquid and has a tube inside of it. The tube inside of the "tank" has holes punched in the bottom of it that lets the liquid into the cartridge. The cartridge inside the tube inside of the "tank" soaks up the liquid and is really just a big "wick." It soaks up the liquid into cotton or another material inside the tube and gets heated with a "coil" also.
*There are also Top Coils- the coil is at the top and provides a warmer vape (but can give "dry hits" a.k.a. no hit).
Bottom Coil- The coil is at the bottom and gives a cooler vape and never has a "dry hit" (as long as you have juice that is). and
Dual Coils- which are exactly what they sound like. Double the coil = double the vape = double the juice used.*

Mods?
The thing that holds your battery and powers your -mizer is a mod. There are 2 ways to group mods.
The 1st grouping:
Disposable mods- Some mods have a sealed battery inside of them. After so many charges the battery power runs out faster and won't hold a charge as long. Then it's time to recycle the old one and buy a new one.
Replaceable battery mods- The name says it all. When the batteries die you pull them out, recharge them and put them back in. After those batteries won't hold a charge anymore you recycle them and buy new batteries instead of buying a whole new mod.
The 2nd grouping is by shape:
cigalikes - They look like cigarettes
eGo/Tube mods - They look like a tube with a button on them.
Box mods - A box that holds the battery and juice inside of it with a mouthpiece attached to the outside of the box.
*Special side note* Bottomfeeders* - A bottom feeder is a box mod that has the juice in a squeezable bottle exposed to the user so they may squeeze (a.k.a. "squonk") the juice directly onto the atomizer. It's basically dripping with a box mod.*

Variable Voltage/Variable Wattage
Ok I've already said enough but for now I'll just say that they do the same thing in the end. V.V. and V.W. allow the user to change the amount of power going through the "coil", thus changing the amount of liquid vaporized and the temperature at which it is vaporized. Why do this? Because it changes the flavor of the juice. Some juices change so dramatically that you can turn the V.V. or V.W. up or down to the point that you can drown out one flavor with another that's already in the juice.

OK that was more than I meant to type. But ^these^ are the basics to ECF vocabulary.
If you're interested in any of this stuff I highly recommend doing a more in depth study with the search feature on here. :)
Good Luck. Vape on!
