Brand new here and have absolutely no knowledge of what's what. I would love some recomendations on exactly what I need to get started. Money is not an issue, quitting smoking is. I'm 35 years old and have to hacking cigs since 15. I'm expecting my first child in a month and refuse to smoke cigs any longer. Any help would be great. I don't have a clue were to begin.

Welcome to ecf! If I was starting right now I'd go with an ego type variable voltage battery (at least two to start with), a charger, and an evod bottom coil atomizer (id start with 2.5 ohms). I'd also try out a cartomizer tank with some standard single coil cartomizers at about the same resistance.

For juice, I'd get a couple of sample packs from a few different vendors, making sure to try quite a few flavors other than tobacco. I'd probably pick 18 mg/ml based on my 1.5 PAD habit.

You will get many more suggestions! Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Oy, I assumed OP was the dad.

I considered that, but decided since OP said "I'm expecting my first..." rather than "We're expecting our first..." that OP was a woman.

OP, if I'm wrong, please excuse me, ignore my post, and consider starting with an eGo twist and some tanks!

Or if pregnant and still smoking, maybe try 0 nicotine. From what I've read even nicotine replacement therapies are not the first recommendation during pregnancy, though still better than cigarettes. I think nicotine is supposed to be most harmful during early gestation, so if you are the mom and the baby is due in a month it's sort of late to be worrying about it (not meant in a judgmental way, just being pragmatic).

Talking to your OB about smoking or nrt would be the best thing to do, really.

Well, Press coverage, it looks like the advice you're hoping to get really depends on whether you're the mother or the father. We need clarification! HELP US HELP YOU!

Also welcome. And congratulations. And all those other things we say when people are expecting a child, and/or switching from smoking to vaping. I'm sure you're a lovely person. I'm going to continue rambling out loud while I click to post button.

Thanks so much for the clarification! My advice is above. I'm sure more people will chime in now that we know you are not pregnant.

Oh, and congrats on your impending fatherhood. Be sure that you and mom sleep a lot now, because soon it will fell like you will never sleep again. ;)

Congrats also on being two days smoke free. I started with a little cig-alike, and while it was great in that it opening me up to other possibilities, I don't think it would have worked to keep me smoke free.

I echo Spazmelda's thanks for the clarification, Press Coverage, and herewith my official welcome to the forum! :)

Are you aware of any vape shops near you? If so, check out their devices to see what feels and looks comfortable for you. B&M's (brick and mortar storefronts) are also great if they have juice-tasting facilities, as finding the right juice flavors can be one of the most important factors in vaping success.

I'll repeat my recommendation: Start simple (not Blu simple, though, lol). Anything with eGo or 510 threading is pretty much industry standard, and with an eGo device, you have a lot of accessories (cartridges, clearomizers, tanks, dripping atomizers etc. etc. etc.) to choose from. Sub forums here will give you tons of specific reviews of all the different devices and help you decide what's right for you.

As far as juices go, I suggesting starting with samplers: Most vendors offer variety packs of small (3-5 ml) bottles. With some, you can choose which flavors to include; with others, they'll offer "tobacco" or "menthol" or "bakery" or "fruit" assortments.

As for a basic setup, you'll need batteries (at least 2), battery charger, juice delivery device (tank, clearo, etc.) and juice. Think starter kit + juice sampler to begin with; they're usually the most economical way to get started.

Good luck!
