hey all -- brand new member -- brand new ecig user

before buying my Joye 510 three weeks ago this Thursday ($39!) I spent a LOT of time on these forums reading up on various ecig-related topics... very informative site and a great resource

since buying the 510, I've gotten a box of empty cartomizers (love em), a USB passthrough (incredible) and probably nine different juices from five different distributors

I'd have to say my favorite juice is the Wyatt Earp 24mg from FSUSA I got as a free sample

so far I really love my ecig -- it's taken a little time for me to get used to the things I can do to tailor my vaping to my personal preferences (new equipment... different juices...) but I think I'm starting to get dialed in

since I've befouled all my empty carts and cartomizers with a wide variety of juices (in the name of experimentation) I think before I go on a spending spree trying a bunch of new juices I'll make sure I've got at least a box of empty cartridges so I can try all of them fresh

anyway, glad to be a member here -- thanks to everyone for making this place so informative and useful!

From one newbie to another you might want to think about direct dripping. It seems like you'd have a lot less waste & more taste. Have fun experimenting! I'm off to do the same...

Good for you for finding this forum and reading up before making your first purchase. Sounds like you're enjoying your new hobby of vaping. I agree with Desert_Rose about dripping with new flavors before dedicating a carto to one juice.

P.S - Wyatt Earp is still one of favorites as well

I don't mean to hijack. But, if you are dripping to try different flavors, do you need to do anything to the atty before switching to a new flavor?

There are different ways to clean your addy. I use denatured alc, some boil them, some run water through them, others just blow through them and use a paper towl. But yea I would clean the atty before using another flavor. Check youtube, there are tons of videos on this!

holy crap haha... I've joined so many forums -- I've never gotten so many replies on my introduction post thanks!

I tried dripping initially because when I first opened my 510 and charged it up and whatnot I was scared because nothing was happening -- I pulled the cart off and put a drop directly on the atomizer (something I'd read about here) and sure enough it fired right up

so for a few days I dripped off and on -- just taking cart off...

the only time I seem to drip is if I'm doing a lot of drinking -- but instead of a cart I use a cartomizer I pulled the filling out of... usually my 48mg Jeff's Mix (although I might be allergic to something in it.. not sure) or a few of the 24/26mg varieties -- I actually just got a small bottle of 100mg from TW just to see what the strongest stuff was like (I know, it's not intended to be vaped, but I like to get squirrely and experiment)

I actually just got done eating a bowl of really hot hamburger helper and my tongue is a little burned... just mixed 2 drops of the 100mg platinum with 3 drops of 24mg Kamel WOW... holy crap is it harsh hahaha -- and now my tongue is throbbing

but yeah -- the thing I hate about dripping is all the rigmarole -- that's why I like cartomizers -- I fill em up all the way (30 drops or so) and then just throw 6-10 drops in every hour or two -- I don't mind cartridges if I'm already nicked up and just want to vape because I've found only the first five drags or so are 'real' hits -- I've actually gotten a ton of vapor for a long time out of what seems to be a fairly dry cartridge filler, although it's probably just leftover juice in the atomizer (?)

EDIT: but yeah if I try new juices and I don't have empty carts I'll be sure to drip

Welcome Sean! congrats on your move... and for getting juice from FSUSA so quickly, I wish I had found them first, I went through a LOT of juice vendors before finding FSUSA and now they are my only supplier
As for dripping, I only drip now... started with carts etc. still reluctantly use them for long drives but dripping gives you SO much more vapor, flavor and TH do you have a drip tip? or are you just pulling the cart off to do it.. its pretty easy with a drip tip! as for cleaning your atty between flavors, wouldn't worry about it too much, unless your vaping some really strong flavor such as a menthol. just vape till you taste it go dry... you'll get a slight burnt taste, don't go beyond that or you could fry the atty, after that just drip a new flavor on it and Vape away! may take a few rounds to completely get through the lingering flavors but...
I only clean my atty's about once a week, even less now that I vape FSUSA juice exclusively.. the quality is just that good!

thanks mikev -- haven't had a cig for a month and a half -- I actually was using a vaporstar to lighter-vape tobacco for about 3 weeks before finally going the ecig route -- mainly because I was inhaling very fine tobacco dust that fell through the screen

the funny thing is, after a few days of using the vaporstar I could no longer tolerate the taste or even the smell of cigarettes -- and THEN, after using the ecig for a few days I went back to test out the vaporstar and even though it was SO much better than smoking when I first did it, I had a similarly negative reaction to it as I did switching to it from analogs haha

so yeah, ecigs are WAY better than analogs -- even better than just vaporizing tobacco

as for dripping, yeah I usually just use the cartomizer I pulled the filler out of -- I actually have two that I pulled the filler out of -- the first one I only got about 4/5ths of it (was just pulling it apart to see how it worked), then I tried it out and it actually worked better than with the filler in (haha) so I looked around here to see if anyone else had ever pulled the filler out of a cartomizer and yeah... nothing new under the sun with these ecigs -- so the next one I did I was more careful and got all the filler

maybe I will try a drip tip though -- I'm just worried that I'll get used to using more liquid if I do it that way, because right now I'm using 1-3ml on a normal day, and about 2-4ml on a day where I go on a bender, but if I only drip won't I use a lot more liquid?

It seemed no matter what there is always wasted juice using carts.. some spilled, not all gets pulled into the atty from the filler and the worst one... getting mouthfuls of juice LOL
and FSUSA has been running some great juice sales as of late, like I needed an excuse to buy more , but as I have found flavors I really like I get the BIG bottles. right now on their site you can get 40% off 120ml bottles of juice! ...$24.00 for 120ml can afford to vape a LOT at that price! LOL

about the platinum ice -- I assume you mean don't get it on my skin or anything -- I know it's meant to be used as a mixer and not to be vaped by itself, but I smoked 20-30 non-filter rollies every day for about 12 years, so I have a pretty high tolerance for nicotine in general

after cautiously vaping 2 drops of it I got a noticeable nicotine buzz, but not very strong, so I think as long as I only use it for a mixer I should be fine -- obviously I know to treat it with much caution though -- thanks

I know exactly what you mean with the wasted juice though -- I hadn't factored that in actually.. especially the spitting out the drops... and the blowing them out once you realize you overfilled them to the point of gurgling (mostly cartomizers)

I actually have a box with five cartridge fillers that I thought were dry because they weren't putting out much vapor but they were still pretty soaked (the end was dry, but the back part was still wet...) so yeah -- you figure there's a good four drops in each of those -- so 16 drops -- just about a milliliter right there, and I haven't even been using the carts... so yeah I think I'll try dripping

the flavor is much nicer I know that much already because when I try a new flavor I always drip right onto the atomizer hehe
