Hello @RuffNeckChick, sorry to hear that your introduction to vaping did not go well. It's a problem with some vape shops, some will push anything to you. But there are a few rare good ones though that can get you set up and support you when needed.

Hopefully you are in the process of getting refunded. If they're not helpful though, could you please let us know what they sold you or at least post a picture and we may be able to come up with some ideas.

My personal opinion from what I read in your post is that you got the wrong setup to make the switch. 3mg freebase juice and a sub-ohm device (Sigelei Sibra F is a sub-ohm device) will not help you with the cravings, I'm not sure if the freebase juice is making you cough there are a lot of factors into this issue.
What I would recommend is that you get a simple low powered pod system that is easy to use, low maintenance and high nicotine salt nics, you could start with 50mg and work your way down in a couple weeks/months.
Complicated box mods, constant maintenance of devices, and low level nicotine juices will add more frustration and stress while your trying to quit cigarettes. Once your off the cigarettes then you could go back and take a look at sub-ohm devices if you like.
Don't give up and Good luck!

Hi and welcome!

Loads of good advice for you so far. when starting out got some of us got good advice, some not as good. But we’ve all had to experiment with various devices and juices to find what works for us.

I did cough a lot at first just getting used to the vapor. For you, I agree with others that your device is dl and your juice is high in vg, which are likely not helping.

Higher nic, lower vg, and a mtl tank are likely to make things easier on you.

If you know any other vapers, maybe they could show you what gear they have and let you try it out to see what suits you.

But anyway, I’m glad to see you here asking. You’ll make it if you don’t give up. Keep trying stuff.

I also like the suggestions for a mtl pod system of even better a set up like the zenith or nautilus tanks with higher nic , lower power, and not as much vapor...saying that, I still believe you are going to cough, most everyone does, but with higher nic, a small puff goes a long way and will satisfy your urges more.....I coughed a lot, like for almost 2 weeks. What helped me personally was to draw vapor in my mouth and hold it there for 5 or more seconds then inhale to lungs, this seemed to dilute the vapor so it wasnt as bad. I still coughed, but every day it hot better and better. I stuck with it though and as the days went by I didnt have to hold it in my mouth as long and eventually it because smoooooth.....good luck

Welcome to ECF Ma'am. You need a MTL device and not strictly a jull device. There are many other options available. If you don't have a jull in your vape shop you can get some other brand but a 3mg freebase juice will not give you required nicotine. Actually the same happened with me. Was given a smok infinix device with just 3 mg nicotine.

Coughing can happen when someone switch to vaping but if you have repetitive cough it means something is wrong. Maybe the pod has a burnt head. In case of a pod system you need to fill it and let it rest for some time. In case of a tank system, you need to prime the coil and let it rest for some time in tank.

Please note, its a learning curve. Don't get disappointed. You can certainly quit smoking. You just need a the right device and the right juice. There are many good tobacco flavour juices like "black note" line. They taste like cigarette. Please note you need 12 mg or more nicotine if its freebase juice and slowly you can reduce the nicotine strength when you successfully switched to vaping. For now no need to worry about high nicotine intake as its not the nicotine which is the culprit in a conventional cigarette.

You need to do some research as well. Watch some videos on YouTube about difference between freebase juice and nic salt juice.

What is MTL and DL vaping.

Which device is right for MTL vaping and for a newbie.

Trust me it sounds complicated in start but it is very easy once you know about the basics. Its very very simple when you understand it.

I repeat please don't get discourage. Never give up. Its worth the effort even if the device you bought is not taken by the shop. It can be useful later sometime. In short please don't let anything discourage you.

A good, familiar flavor of 50 mg nic salts will likely do the trick. When you 1) get a device that gives a nice drag 2) get a flavor you like that gives a decent throat hit...that's when the cravings really stopped. That somewhat restricted MTL draw with a nice throat hit from a good flavored juice will definitely help. Tobacco and menthol flavors were good to start with...at least for me.

I had been dual using (smoking and vaping) for 7 years. I just recently (a week ago today) stopped smoking using higher mg nicotine salts in a pod device (Smok Nord) when I am having a nic fit and a lower mg the rest of the time so as not to make myself nic sick. It has taken 7 years but I have found the right juice/device combo that has helped me quit. I still have the occasional cough when I inhale. When that happens I use a cough drop, it lightly numbs my throat and I don't have that tickle from the vape that causes me to cough. I had to use them quite a bit when I first made the switch completely but after a week I'm using them less and less..
