I had protective clear tape on my MKI Brass model for quite a while, but I removed it and now I like the patina it is developing (I prefer that word to 'tarnish' :D ). It is turning darker, almost a grey/brown colour under the artificial light here. I also have a brass MKII but it is still shiny, I'm going to see how that one changes over time too.

Sometimes I think the aluminium Slim is slightly more powerful than the brass one, then at other times the opposite seems to be the case - I think in reality they're probably pretty equal - the important thing is to clean the threads and battery connections regularly which can make a great improvement if you find performance diminishing.

The Slims are perfect for me, I just ordered an AFS and am looking forward to trying it out with them. I have found the Slims feel more powerful when the carts are freshly filled with liquid, and as battery can last several cart refills I hope the AFS will sustain that "power" for far longer.

If you want a nice shiny look that lasts a long time try everbrite coatings ... it was posted on this forum a while back and if I could find the post I would give credit where its due >.<

Protecta clear

Triple coat works wonders, cleanable with windex and resists fingerprint marks.

Just keep it off the threads as it doesnt conduct electricity very well.

Galling can happen between metals either the same or dissimilar. Actually it is more likely between dissimilar metals as electrons will deposit minute amounts of one metal onto the other (plating). This can cause galling when you go to unscrew it and the plating balls up instead of sliding apart and fuses the 2 pieces together.

That is unlikely with frequently used threads btw.

This is the thread I was referring to:

no brass, no alluminium.....CHROME

I turned to a specialist and did GGTS Chrome, I spent 25 euros and the result is here in the photo that struggles to do what shines !!!!!
Cleaning is easy as before: a cotton swab with alcohol and is new.
Compared to the original two-tone, I find the more sober one color .... well, I sweated while the chrome-process but I'm happy with the result.

You had show me those exellent pics before in a pm lord! But only one question. I see a little sharp surface on the first pic. Maybe crome didnt gave you exactly the surface you wanted for some reason? Or its a trick of the photo?
